“Fantastic Hotel..shame about the coach travel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014

Having just returned from our 7 night break here, all I can say was everything was fantastic, the hotel stunning, the staff excellent, the food good ( albeit the portion control was not consistent especially the starters) and the rooms spotlessly clean and roomy. Excellent coach touring entertainment and wonderful settings. However the coach travel too and from was unreal as were most of the excursions. We arrived at our pick up point 20 mins prior to our departure time to find our coach waiting. Our taxi driver attempted to put our cases in the boot but was sharply told to leave them as they had to be marked...no Good Morning or Welcome aboard!, Picking up other passengers our feeder driver moaned about people arriving literally a few minutes late..not really the best start to a holiday.Unfortunately this pattern of " un socialable drivers continued throughout our holiday, Our main driver as a result of road closures got lost which added approx 1 hour and 30 mins on our outward journey, resulting in some passengers spending in excess of 14hours on the coach before getting to the hotel. Throughout the week we seemed to spend more time having coffee and "fag" breaks than actual time visiting places, and to really put "icing on the cake" on our homeward journey, we left the fabulous Ardgarten at 7.50am..only to stop 55mins later, for 1 hour, at a retail outlet for coffee and shopping where the coach drivers received commission on the passengers purchases! This seemed to have been the theme all week! Only on our trip to the Isle of Aran was our relief driver Bobby, a true credit to Lochs and Glens Holidays. I understand that the coach and drivers we had on our tour were contracted from another company but even so what was an excellent holiday was spoilt by the coach company that took us.I have send a letter to Lochs and Glens and am eagerly awaiting a reply!

Room Tip: Be prepared for a very LONG journey, but you will NOT be disappointed with the hotel

The view of the Loch as you enter the hotel lobby is simply stunning and there is plenty of seating for all to sit in comfort and just take in the scenery with a coffee or drink. The staff are attentive and polite. Nothing is too much trouble and the restaurant service is excellent. Individual staff are assigned to specific tables and will take your order from the good range of choices on the menus and there is also a separate wine waiter. Never had a choice of starters for breakfast before!
A nice touch is when you enter your room, there is a short statement saying who, by name, is in charge of your room and who to contact should you require anything additional, such as extra pillows etc. Very clean, well appointed rooms and all your needs and more met. Highly recommended.

This was our first time at Ardgartan. Wow how beautiful. As we have enjoyed breaks at Loch Long and Achree before we new it would be a good experience. What a great achievement by the Wells family. We came with seven friends this time and all were entirely satisfied with everything. The long journey from East Kent is not as daunting as it might seem as the drivers are always cheerful,
knowledgable and helpful. From the moment we arrived till our departure all staff were so welcoming, smart and considerate. The rooms were so bright and spotlessly clean. The food was always nicely presented, hot and swiftly served. (This has a lot to do with the relay system which some reviewers seem to object to). We were very fortunate to have a window table and were entertained one evening by the otters. The grounds are well populated with wild life, on this occasion we only had a short walk round but next time we will forgo a day out and explore further.
The daily excursions were enjoyable,Glasgow was much nicer than expected and the city tour well informed. Loch Lomond cruises are always spectacular but was a bit disappointed with the Bute tour as previously had been to the impressive Mount Stewart. Our next trip with Lochs and Glens was booked before we left!!

Room Tip: All rooms have beautiful views

We have just returned from a wonderful 8 day holiday with Lochs & Glens staying at the magnificent Ardgartan Hotel. From the minute we arrived we were blown away by this hotel & its beautiful surrounding scenery. We could fault nothing at all during this holiday which was my 6th time with Lochs& Glens & my partners 3rd. Each time we have stayed at a different hotel all of which are lovely. Our driver Clive was very good indeed & took us out each day on varied trips all of which showed us the breathtaking scenery the Scottish Highlands has to offer. The views from the hotel are absolutely stunning overlooking Loch Long & we had a beautiful spacious room which also overlooked the loch. Can't wait to go again with this wonderful holiday company. Well done Lochs& Glens!!

Just returned from a mid week self drive holiday with Lochs and Glens at Ardgarten Hotel. The hotel is fabulous and the views stunning. Food and entertainment were brilliant a special mention for Andy the Entertainment manager who was great fun. Looking forward to returning in the autumn

When we arrived at this hotel we were amazed at its beautiful location on the shores of the loch, then could not believe our luck to have a pretty and comfortable room with a view right down the loch - on one occasion complemented by otters playing in the water. Add to that good food, helpful staff, reasonably priced wine and what more could one ask for? We'll done Lochs and Glens - our first holiday with you but I doubt it will be our last!

The hotel was magnificent, large bedroom, food very good ,staff excellent and good nightly entertainment--- so why am I complaining!!! With the exception of the trip to loch lomand the day trips were uninspiring and the PAID tour around Glasgow was a RIP OFF!!!! Get the day trips sorted out and you are on a cert winner

Room Tip: try to get a lochside view
