Beautiful view of the loch. Room 102 at front of hotel and very relaxing. Bedding crisp white cotton. Plenty of towels in bathroom. Meals were excellent. Well done chef. Hearty breakfast set us up for the day touring and evening meal choices excellent and well cooked and presented. Relaxing lounge with entertainment and friendly staff throughout our stay. Would stay here again.

such a beautiful place, not a lot to do in the immediate area unless you are there to walk but a short drive in any direction and theres something new to see, great scenery very relaxing holiday.Had a trip to Oban only 90mins pity it was choppy otherwise we could have hopped on board an sailed across to Mull. But a trip to the Whiskey Distilery was well worth a visit.

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst hilleslking in the area.
Got a fantastic b+b deal. The food was excellent and I also had bar meals every evening.

Rooms were clean and warm.

Staff very friendly and attentive. They helped to dry my walking gear each night for the next day. Also left my walking plans with them each day for my own safety.

Ignore negative reviews of this hotel. Those reviewers are never happy with anything or anywhere.

I will definitely stay here again in the future. Well done to all at The Arrochar

Good value . The evening meal delicious . Our double room clean and comfortable though a little small with sadly no view at the rear. The staff were very pleasant. There was no entertainment or music playing in the lounge in the evening and so we took a stroll to have a drink elsewhere, pity! The hotel has definately improved over the past few years and we hope to return. If you are lucky enough to get a loch facing room you can enjoy the fantastic view. This hotel is in a great location if you enjoy hillwalking.

Room Tip: Ask for a loch view

Arrived at the the Arrochar on a lovely Autume day to see the beautiful view from the front of the hotel. A good welcome from effiecient staff. Restaurant and bar areas fine, also dinner and breakfast very good - service and quality. Wine however was expensive, especially when we ordered a bottle in the bar whilst listening to the entertainment on Saturday evening.

On to the bedroom! we had a very small double room not very appealing with a double bed pushed up against the wall, it had previously been a single room judging by the single headboard, not easy to get out of this in the dark without climbing over your partner!! Our view was at the back of the hotel overlooking trees not very special considering the general location. The shower room was very small, tierd, not looking very fresh and no where to put anything. One of my main reasons for staying in a hotel whislt touring is to sleep and bath, so bedrooms and bathrooms are one of my priotities, as well as the food and hospitality. Generally what I saw of the upstairs was very tierd and smelt of cooking and staleness. The bedroom doors were very stiff possibly a bit of a fire hazard. The linen was clean however. With a hotel in such a lovely location it is such a shame that there was a sharp contrast from the public areas to the bedrooms. I do hope that this part of the experience can be brought up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask to see your bedrom as soon as you arive to check. We did look online before but I didn't re...

We stayed for two nights - what made the stay very pleasant was the assistance of the manager and his wife when needed (David & Janet).
Added to that was the fabulous cooking; full Scottish breakfast was enough to satisfy any Scotsman ! Very nicely cooked, and on roasting hot plates (Top Marks Chef). Come the evening, another superb tasty meal (outstanding Sea Bass) and as we booked for 18.30 the dining room was quite and the service prompt, efficient and friendly. Nice wines available too (bit on the expensive side, but a profit has to be made egh) - our table next to the window overlooking the loch each night was an added bonus (we had a room overlooking the loch too so were spoiled for scenery).
It is an old hotel with almost everything creaking (floor boards, doors, service trolleys) it does not matter if the people are nice and the meals and service are "up to scratch" which they were.
The sealant around the bath could do with renewal, it was very tatty and stained.
Overall, a lovely stay, stunning views and a welcome break.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the loch.

The Arrochar is situated in a beautiful spot next to Loch Long. The rooms at the front have a view over the Loch. At the moment it is a 2 star but the staff say they are renovating and upgrading the hotel to a become a 4 star in the near future. Therefor you may or may not get a renovated room.
When we arrived at the hotel the foyer smelt of smoke, we realised later that this was because the cigarette extinguishers are situated at the front entrance and therefor the smoke smell lingers in the foyer.
The reception staff are very friendly and check in was quick. We were offered help with our luggage. But as there is a lift we declined.
Our room was a small double and we were pleased to find that it was at the front of the hotel. It had a small window but a beautiful view of the loch and mountains. There was a hospitality tray including biscuits (a nice touch), but there was only one soap in the bathroom. When we enquired later as to the rest of the toiletries we were told they were on order but hadn't arrived yet. However the receptionist did manage to find a shower gel for us to use, this was very much appreciated.
Our ensuite was a bit cramped and had a sliding door to save space, this wasn't a problem but the shower corners were a little grubby and the toilet did have old staining and a slight smell. I presume this will all be replaced shortly. We couldn't get the shower to work in the morning and on ringing reception the manager very helpfully came up to solve our problem. He also couldn't get the shower to work so he immediately sorted an empty guest room for us to use for a shower, excellent service. This room was a lot bigger than ours and the ensuite had been renovated to a lovely standard. It turned out that there was nothing wrong with our shower, we (and the manager) hadn't realised that the silver circle which looked like a keylock actually turned it on!
Even though the hotel has both a restaurant and a bar menu we didn't eat at the hotel we walked down the road to a little fish and chip shop (sold handmade soaps and gels too!), they did make nice fish and chips! However we did have waffles and ice-cream in the hotel lounge later, and this was very relaxing and they were good.
Breakfast was really delicious! we were shown to a lovely table next to a window overlooking the loch and were told to help ourselves from the fruit juices, cereals and fruit, then they would come and take our order for our cooked breakfast. There was plenty of choice and it was cooked perfectly. We were also served coffee and tea and were checked on later to see if we wanted any more.
All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Arrochar and can see that although a little tired at the moment it has the potential to be a very smart hotel once renovations are complete. The staff couldn't of been more helpful and friendly and we left feeling we were glad we'd booked. We would definitely stay again at the current prices, but would think they will definitely increase once renovated!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front as the view is amazing!
