“Wonderful stay”
Reviewed 23 October 2008

Just back from an Easybreak at the Arrochar Hotel.
We loved it.
I also had read the reviews and was a little concerned by some of them but was delighted to find that if there had been problems, these have been addressed. I too have travelled the world and stayed in some fantastic buildings; all marble and glass with rooms like palaces, but no soul or character. Certainly the Arrochar may not be as sumptuous and some windows could do with being replaced but our room was warm and comfortable, it was extremely clean and the food was splendid with an excellent choice. The cranachan was to die for.
The staff were helpful and friendly and we just hope that we will be able to go back again to use this as a base for further exploration of the area. It is an ideal base and with so many places of interest within a few miles radius, the Arrochar Hotel is ideally placed.

Thank you Arrochar Hoel for making our stay so enjoyable

  • Liked — Attitude of the staff
  • Disliked — Double glazing in our room ; condensation between the glass spoiled the view a little, but that is being over fussy.

We just had three nights at this hotel & after reading previous reviews(after we had booked )wondered what to expect.
However we found the staff very pleasant& thoroughly enjoyed the meals ,especially breakfast.....
Due to the heavy rain we had a leak in our bedroom & after advising the management about it we were not charged for that nights accomodation. They had had work done on the roof previously & the builders were coming back.
The scenery & situation of the hotel is very beautiful & the location easy to get out & about to Fort William, Glen Coe etc.We would return for a longer stay next time.

My husband and I have just returned from an Easy break holiday in the Arrocher hotel. We enjoyed it very much I must admit I read the reviews after i booked and was concerned with no need
The meals were lovely with plenty choice and served to perfection Sean is a credit he knows his job.

There was a damp smell when we came on to the stair from the second floor but nowhere else
When i booked on line through easy breaks we were offered a twin room but i phoned the Arrocher direct and the receptionist said I could have a double room no problem and we got a Loch view as well great service

There isnt a lot to do but if you go by car there is lovely drives and we had a sail down Loch Lomond
Its a shame to have bad publicity we have stayed all over Scotland and the arrocher is certainly acceptable.

I am a seasoned world traveler, and have stayed in hotels from Kenya to Vietnam, and this hotel is by far the most disgusting dirty hotel we have ever seen. on arrival i had to hunt down the reception staff, when i found them they issued my keys and away we went to our room, the room smelt vile so my wife started to look deeper and soon found cobwebs, dirt, ripped curtains, and then the most disgusting quilt you have ever seen, it stunk of urine, it was full of cigarette burns, and stained all over with urine. we complained to the staff but we couldnt stay in this hotel after what we had seen so we left and they agreed not to charge me for the one hour stay

OHIML, General Manager at Arrochar Hotel, responded to this review, 20 October 2008
"I wish to thank the writers for their comments but hasten to say that this is not typical of our room stock. The room had been empty for several days and hence there was an air of dampness about it (not urine) and a cobweb had formed in one corner. The hotel is undergoing a programme of deep-cleaning and redecoration at present and we will in a short time refresh and improve until such time this room is no longer apart of our room inventory.

I booked this hotel for a weekend stay with Easybreak I then checked out this site and was wishing that I had not booked with all the negative reviews. I would never have booked this hotel if I had read the reviews first. I have had the best weekend for a long time the hotel was clean the food was great the staff could not do more for us. ok maybe it did need some work done on it but in this present climate who can afford to spend the kind of money it would take. It was great value for money. I would recommend this place. On the down side the bar shut a 11pm when you are having a great time you just wish the bar would stay open it is only human nature there was a crowd of women arrived they were great company and they were disappointed the bar was shut my husband was having a carryon with girls and told them to complain to the management it was all good fun, then from out of the blue the disco guy blue his top at my husband and gave him verbal then he threatened to phone the police on us I had to ask him to calm down and stop pointing his finger at me when I asked his name he told me to go away. he should not have been listening in to our conversation it was none of his business he was there to play records and he was not very good at that the bar was filled with single women and he played slow record most of the night he should have read the situation better and played faster songs the girls were sick asking him to speed it up. we think he is related to the management and he was obviously upset at our comments. he spoilled was was a very good night I think he should be told to keep his anger to himself.

  • Liked — friendlyness
  • Disliked — bar shutting too early

we have just returned from the arrochar hotel after having a pleasant stay.

the hotel is maybe in need of a little upgrading but the service and staff were excellent especially for the good rates we paid for the trip.

we took along our 20 month old daughter and she was welcomed with open arms. staff went out their way to make the stay easy for us by having high chairs ready at meal times, amending the menu for her and letting us having a bigger room for her cot etc.

we had a lovely stay at the hotel, unfotunately not a lot in the surrounding area for children but overall a lovely stay. and thankyou to all staff.

  • Liked — they gave us extra room and made our young daughter very welcome and great views
  • Disliked — no entertainment at nights and a little rund down
