“Lovely place to stay”
Reviewed 6 September 2013

We stayed at the Lochside Guesthouse for 4 nights and were really made welcome by Diane. It's definitely one of the B&Bs which is or should be famous for its breakfast, as you can pick the individual items and everything is prepared as you wish. Great way to start a long day of exploring! We found the location perfect for our plans and excursions, enjoyed the pub next door and the Village Inn down the road.
Yes, it's true - the sanitary facilities are a bit temperamental (But where are they not in the UK???) and the WIFI-Connection didn't always work (but we personally don't travel to a beautiful area to be online).
Diane and her team and the atmosphere they create make this B&B worth a stay!

Room Tip: If traffic noise bothers you, make sure to get a room facing the Loch!

Just back home after a lovely weekend stay at the Lochside Guest House. My wife and I were met on arrival by Diane who could not have been nicer. She showed us to our room and explained the facilities available and made us really welcome. Our room which was spotless, had a fantastic view of the loch and the surrounding hills and was well furnished. We ate in the adjacent bar and had a good meal along with entertainment.
I have to agree with several of the previous reviewers and compliment the breakfast. Not only was it excellent quality there was was plenty of it.
We will definitely be making a return visit and would like to thank all of the staff for making our special weekend so pleasant.

Room Tip: Ask for a Loch view.

We stayed here in mid August for three nights. After travelling to several places in Scotland and staying in different B&B's during our trip we ended up here for our last three nights. We were so disappointed! After arriving early we struggled to find anybody at the B&B or the pub, when somebody finally appeared he didn't exactly know what he was doing but did manage to find our room. When we got to it the door had been smashed in! He apologised and took us back to the pub to wait until they sorted something else out. He then took us to room 11, a room to the side of the building. The door opened into the dining area and kitchen. Both blinds were broken so would not close, the lamps both did not work and one of the windows had no handles but was stuffed with tissue so that there was no draft. The room was not a loch view which we had paid for but instead looked to the side. The guy apologised that it was not as nice a room as our original room but said they would try to fix the door that day or at the latest the day after and we could switch back. We then had a visit from the chef at 10pm who said that he would try to be quiet in the morning but apologising in advance for the noise and he hoped we would be moved the next day. The morning came and we were awake from 7am with noise (Understandable not the chefs fault, he has to cook!) Also the noise of other guests at our door eating their breakfast. We were not happy at all and so tried to find the manager, Again nowhere to be found. We did find one of the breakfast/cleaner ladies who went to speak to the manager (we met two ladies who worked there cleaning/breakfast hosting and both were lovely to speak to and were working very hard every time we saw them, we didn't get their names but without them this review would be 0) Apparently the manager had said that there was no guarantees that we would be moved on that day as the door wasn't fixed, I told her that if we weren't we would be moving hotels. After returning later that day again there was nobody about in the reception but the manager was in the pub, she was very rude and seemed annoyed that we were making her leave the pub!! She said they had got the door fixed but asked what the problem was with the other room.. So I told her exactly all the problems! I also asked what the price reduction would be as we were not in a loch view room for that night (let alone the fact that we had to re-pack our things to move rooms!) She said the room we stayed in was charged out at the same price so there would be no reduction, even though we booked a loch view and did not get that! Needless to say the second room had fantastic views and was very lovely, and certainly should not be charged at the same price. We certainly will not be returning to this B&B, it put a complete downer on the last few days of our holiday.

Good point, breakfast was lovely and the chef and two ladies were very pleasant. They should get a promotion over the manger who clearly needs to take a customer service lesson!!

Room Tip: If you are offered room 11, just say no!! You will not sleep past 7am!

We stayed for three nights late August in room 7 and had a fantastic time here. The room was spacious with unbelievable views and it was the quietest place we have stayed. The breakfast was amazing the nicest we have ever had in the uk and we actually would look forward to breakfast time! The only small downside was that we could never get the wifi to connect and the flush in the toilet was a bit temperamental however we never asked anyone to fix, so didn't give them the opportunity to sort so not complaining.
The beer garden was such a nice place to relax with a pimms and the food from the adjoining pub was also good on our first night we got a voucher for £10 off food!
After booking this I was slightly worried we were going to be a bit out in the sticks but the location was perfect as it allowed us to explore Loch Lomond and the trossachs but also have a trip up memory lane and visit dalmally and Oban where I used to work.

We are hoping to stay again next year as we had such a good time

Room Tip: Book a lochside room unbelievable views

We stayed in a small twin room for two nights and I must admit the the room was at most average. The extremely noisy fan in the bathroom, bedside lamps that did not have light bulbs, the cleanliness of the room could most certainly be improved. But the location, and the food (both breakfast and the neighboring pub dinner) were fantastic. It was tasty, portions were massive and all was served with a big smile. The town itself was surprisingly quite in August and we struggled to find alternative places to eat (I was looking for a Traditional Scottish Inn). The service was very good and all people we came across were very friendly.

Room Tip: go for a room that does not have the windows on the street level: less noise, more privacy.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review. We apologise if your stay was not a positive one. This room is going to be refurbished early in October 2013 and will be of the same standard as the new part of the b&b, but their should be no excuses for the cleanliness of the room & having no lightbulbs in lamps, this will be addressed with the housekeeping staff. Could you email myself at the address below, evelynadam123@aol.com as i would like to discuss a couple of things with yourself regarding your stay.

A few of us stayed at this guest house as we were attending a wedding nearby. We were immediately greeted on arrival by friendly staff and were shown our room. We had three rooms in total and each room was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean.

We woke up this morning to the most amazing view! Breathtaking!

We will definitely return to this guest house and would like to return with our children next time.

We stayed for two rainy nights in August. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful, the cooked breakfasts were tasty and generous, and the view of the loch was brilliant! The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The wifi was patchy, but that was the only blemish on a delightful stay.

Room Tip: Obviously the rooms facing the loch have a better view...

Dear Guest

Thank you for your lovely review of our guest house, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay and the beautiful views of the loch. With regards to the patchy wifi, this should be sorted within the next week or two as we are upgrading the broadband and should extend to every room in the guest house. Hopefully the next time you visit, the wifi will be up and running smoothly.

Regards

Evelyn Adam
