“An annual pilgrimage to this Chinese restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2013

We visit the Princess Rose once every year, when we are staying at nearby the Cameron House Hotel, and were pleased to find it as good as ever. The service was prompt and friendly, and the presentation of the food extremely good, with beautifully crafted flowers made out of vegetables. Prices were a little on the high side compared with their own takeaway menu and our experience elsewhere, but portions were large and the quality very good. We had the mixed hors d’oeuvres, followed by crispy duck pancakes and several main courses. All were freshly-cooked and tasty. Our only (small) criticism is that the choice of wines by the glass could be greater.

One of the best Chinese restaurants we have visited.

“Ouch!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2013

Staying at Cameron House, we went into town to find somewhere to eat for an evening meal.

The restaurant wasn't busy, so we were seated quickly and our order taken. The starters were reasonably tasty, and the main courses were nice and there was also a decent portion of food in each case, but the prices were extremely steep for what we got. Starters at £6 each, mains at £10 or more each, and rice extra on top!

Our glasses were also allowed to run dry, and we had to go and ask a waiter if we could get more drinks which was disappointing given that there were only about 4 tables occupied at the time.

Staff were polite and friendly, but I wouldn't rush back in a hurry! Cost of the meal for 2 adults and 2 small children was £75 - I've had better and been charged less. Wish the Hungry Monk was still open!

Ordered takeaway from here on the way home.Ordered breast of chicken curry and fried rice.Got home(40 miles away) and the curry sauce and rice were nice but the so called breast of chicken was the cheap chicken. It was watery and tasted cheap. If i lived down the road i would have thrown it back and got a refund!Wont be going there again!

“Tasty take away food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2013

Just had my first delivery from The Princess Rose. Staff were very pleasant over the phone when ordering and the delivery man was extremely polite. Food was hot, fresh and tasty. Good portion sizes with the right amount of spice. Average prices for chinese take away but worth every penny. I'll definitely order again!
