6 of us went for the night, staff were lovely and restaurant food excellent, we enjoyed karaoke and then retired to bed at 1am and then the disco kicked in but by 3.40am there was not a peep. The beds were spotless and breakfast was lovely and wee blonde lassie that served breakfast was very helpful.

Room Tip: take ear plugs until after 3am - though if young - you will love it

As the room was not quite ready we were offered a drink in the lounge, (free); although large comfy room the shower was poor; we were well warned about the weekends DJ's and night club; we were asked to leave our room key if we went out but as we passed the little office 2/3 times and as it was unsupervised I would not be keen to follow this request; we thought the quality of the evening meal very good but the time to be served and between courses was dreadful (from arriving to starter was 55mins and after ordering just plain ice cream we gave up and left -total time for two courses 2 hrs). As we got a cracking deal, we were up for a party night at the kaaroke so we were not too disappointed. Friendly staff and locals. "Free" cash at machine in Spar about 5 mins walk, (charged at hotel machine). Travelled with my daughter.

Never have I experienced a night like this in my life, booked what was to be a relaxing break for my husband and I only to be subjected to having to eat in the bar; as the restaurant was out of bounds after 5.45pm; where the locals were loud and very inebriated. The food itself is basically a typical pub food menu - not impressive We then later had to suffer three and half hours of constant dance music vibrating through the room where staff had been kind enough to give us the room directly above the dj's boom box. After complaining to staff we were told “that’s what we do here and we would have to put up with it” we ended up walking the streets to get some peace until the rain poured down - eventually dragged ourselves back and got four hrs sleep. We could not wait to check out and certainly did not hang around for breakfast - to sum it up staff continued to pass buck, extremely unhelpful and argumentative, now having to fight to get refund on the remaining night stay that we booked and were told we would experience the same again. During one of the phone calls I made in relation to a refund, unbelievably the manager said she often asks residents when they check in if they would like ear plugs during their stay as it can be noisy in rooms 5/6 we were lucky enough to be in room 6!!!! I think that says it all !!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the rooms themselves - don’t get me started very dowdy and felt grubby and unclean, we didn’t even take a shower as it felt unclean

Please, please do yourself a favour and steer clear of here if you are looking for a relaxing break with kind helpful staff. !!

Room Tip: There is nothing I can say to encourage anyone to stay here

This was a very busy hotel which would be a great place for someone looking for a good bevy, late night entertainment and a bed for the night but certainly not for someone looking for comfortable 2 star accomodation. The bar and nightclub appear to be very popular with the locals and visitors alike.

In our bedroom the noise from rock bands in the bar or from the night club was unbearable but we knew in advance there would be some noise so we can't really complain about that - it was just a lot louder than we had anticipated. If we had been a lot younger we may of course have stayed up drinking to 3am and therefore the noise wouldn't have been an issue.

The bedrooms while adequate are not however the cleanest and The Hotel Inspector would have had a field day. Tea/coffee making facilities were however available and the soap/shampoo in the bathroom was a nice touch. A Small Plasma TV with DVD facility was also a positive. Food was OK and the waitresses very friendly.
Although it was clear that some effort is being made, better management and a general upgrade to the bedrooms in particular is required - the rest of the hotel was fine. Staff were helpful but when we were there they were clearly run off their feet as a result of the Lomond Folk Festival.
