“Very good for a hiking weekend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2010

I spent a weekend (2 nights) in the Waterhouse Inn and I think it is fair to say that it provides with very good value for your money: clean and spacious room, extra nice staff and (surprisingly, since it is right above the pub) extremely quiet. Furthermore, given its position right on the southern tip of Loch Lomond, it is well placed to reach all the beautiful locations around the lake. It is a B&B, so some of the services are pretty basic (there was no phone in the room and - obviously - no concierge), but if your objective is to spend a few days of total relaxation while on a hiking trip this is the place to stay. My only (partially) negative remark concerns breakfast: whereas it is possible to have continental breakfast at any time, cooked ones are served only from 0900 to 1000 (0930-1030 on Sunday), at a time when overeager people like me want to hit the trails.....

We stayed here for 5 nights for my 40th birthday. I'd chosen balloch as a base from which to explore the Loch Lomond area. Balloch is at the southern end of the Loch and the Waterhouse is in an excellent location to have a relaxing beak in the area. Luss and Tarbet are only a short drive away and Loch Lomond Country Park is a stroll across the road. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were really friendly. The food is excellent quality and great value for money. The bar area is also a good place to relax in the evening. Our room was clean, bright and modern and the bed comfy. The bathroom was spotless too. We will definitely be returning and would recommend the Waterhouse for an excellent value for money place to stay in a beautiful setting.

My husband and I stayed on Valentine's Night. It has been the second time that we have stayed at the Waterhouse Inn. The rooms are spotlessly clean, modern and comfy, and very quiet considering there is a bar downstairs. Location is great for shopping (Loch Lomond Shores is walking distance), pubbing and clubbing. Staff are very friendly and food is great.

This was our second stay at this hotel as we regularly come to visit relatives in the area. The location is excellent - just across the road from Loch Lomond national park and a short car journey to The Trossachs (Rob Roy country).
Hotel rooms are modern, with plenty of room and everything you would expect. There are only ~7 rooms so it doesn't get noisy in the hotel, though the highstreet below is quite busy. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice if you don't want the full Scottish breakfast. The breakfast room is also open as a very good quality, reasonably priced bistro throughout the day.
There is a pub also as part as the hotel which seems to attract a good crowd with no rowdy teens. We even watched the Scotland International there and the atmosphere was great!
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay and will definitely return

I have to admit to being very impressed by the standard of accomodation offered here.We stayed here just to one night as we were attending a wedding nearby. We paid £79.50 and the twin room we had (no. 3) was spacious, modern, comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was decent and the staff were very friendly. Good work waterhouse inn..

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Waterhouse Inn and would highly recommend it - terrific value for money. We were attending a wedding weekend at the Loch Lomond youth hostel but we didn't fancy sleeping in one of the dorms - prefer our home comforts and we were not disappointed. We found the staff very friendly and helpful on arrival. Our room was spotlessly clean as was the linen and towels. We had a lovely late lunch before exploring Balloch. We slept very well, no noise even though we had been to the lounge (downstairs, next door) for a night cap and it was busy when we left. The cooked breakfast in the cafe area downstairs in the morning was a bonus as we had only expected a continental breakfast in our room. Previous comments about parking had worried us a little but the car park across the road was only a stone's throw from the front door and we encountered no problems. We will definitely visit again.

Just spent an evening at the Hotel. From the outside we didn't expect much but were very pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The rooms are of a very high standard, very large, modern, fabulous shower. The parking is across the road which is no problem. We ate breakfast and lunch at the hotel and both were very good.
We didn't experince any noise from the pub below.

The location is ideal for the boat trips on the Loch and for a walk to Balloch Castle.

We had dinner at the Tullie Inn, again very good food.
