How anyone can give this 5 stars is beyond me. Rooms are dirty, look under bed at the dust, bathrooms are substandard and dirty, its like going back 30 years with the decor. One room smelled of sick. Rooms are also very small. Its an converted house where basically a bed has been dumped in any room it could fit in. We had the lovely ex dinning room with full size patio door looking on to the shed. The blind did nothing to keep light out . Bed was also cheap with very soft uncomfortable matresses. Have a look at the pillows too, lots of lovely marks on them from previous occupants yuk yuk yuk. Glad I never pulled the sheet to look at the matresses. To top it off it was 65 pounds a night what a total rip off. Never again will I stay here. If I had more time I would have got in the car and left . The breakfast was ok but Iv had a lot better. Spend an extra 15 pounds and stay across the road at the hotel. Oh the only reason it got 1 star was for the WIFI.

Room Tip: Find another B+B.

My husband and I stayed at the Anchorage Guest House at the weekend for a quick break getaway. On arrival at the parking area we were greeted and shown to our room and told if we needed anything at all just to ask.

Our room was perfect in all ways, clean bedding, fresh décor, plenty of hangers in the wardrobe and all that we needed for our short stay.

On asking about where to eat we were directed to a local restaurant - which was also perfect. After a comfortable night we had a superb breakfast, served by very friendly staff

Unfortunately my husband took ill and an ambulance had to be called, the owners of the property Mr and Mrs Bowman, followed us to the hospital where they waited for hours with me while my husband was being treated then after he was released they took us back to the accommodation ..................now that's what I call more than just looking after your guests. I would like to say a very big thanks you to Mr and Mrs Bowman for their care and attention to every detail of our stay. Apart from what they did for us personally, I would definitely stay there again, in fact we are booked back in later on this year and really looking forward to it.

The Anchorage Guest House is in a great location for walks, eating out, a short walk and you are into the 'Lomond shores' shopping and leisure areas, fantastic !!!

Would recommend the Anchorage to anyone who wants a quick breakaway in a lovely area.

We stayed three nights at the Anchorage in Balloch as we were attending a wedding. We got what we paid for - no complaints whatsoever. It is a nice quaint place and we were looked after very well. Excellent breakfasts and managementg was of great assistance with our travel plans - whatever.

Would stay again and recommend.to anyone.

Quite surprised at some of the negative reviews on the Anchorage. We stayed there for a night with our 3 kids, we had the larger room which was like a one bedroom flat. The living room was beautifully decorated and very cosy with the open flame gas fire. The en-suite was lovely too, kids liked the bath because it was sunk into the floor. Our rooms were immaculate, we had everything we needed from a washing machine to a microwave. The man who took care of us was really nice and friendly. We went there for the sea life center, which was amazing. Kids loved walking along the the loch too. I think some ppl just far to high expectations, but us normal folk it was a great weekend! would definitely go back to the Anchorage.

Room Tip: The larger room with the living area is ideal because your away from the other guests, it was like w...

Have just arrived home after spending an overnight stay in the Anchorage. I had pre-booked my room a few days previous. I can say that my experience of the bed and breakfast was exceptional. Bedroom and ensuite bathroom were of a high standard and breakfast was superb.

Staff were helpful and polite, will be recommending to friends and family
