“Lovely station tea-rooms”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

My favourite train journey over Rannoch Moor to Crianlarich can just about be done with a lunch stop at the tea-rooms before getting back on to return to Fort William. This scenery is amazing and I have done this trip a couple of times now, as I enjoy it so much.

There is a gap of about 50 minutes before the return train so plenty of time to have a snack or something hot. When I was there last year there was a piper on the station.

A good variety of snacks and drinks to choose from while waiting for the return journey and time to enjoy the sceneray around the station.

I will definitely go back again when in that area, and look forward to it very muich - everyone was so friendly, both in the tea rooms and the train staff on both journeys.

“Fills the gap”
Reviewed 18 August 2013

Stopped here a few times now on travels North. A little difficult to find the entrance, parking is in a lane leading to the railway station. Steep stairs to climb to gain access to the platforms, not very good for people with walking difficulties. Tea room is a tad run down. But the friendly staff make up for this. On the last visit we had the all day breakfast which was freshly prepared. And very nice. Would visit again when up that way.

“IF ONLY ONE COULD WIRE AHEAD !”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

On the wall you find old 'wired' messages ahead of train arrival to order food to be available on arrival. Those were the days ! - but when passengers stretched their 2013 legs as train forced to wait for late running sleeper to cross the tearoom did a brisk trade and on a wet day locals joined those with a longish wait for the Oban branch in sampling good plain tasty fare from friendly staff.

“Trains!!!!”
Reviewed 14 July 2013

Stopped for lunch on the way North. All day breakfast - greasy; toastie - delicious and bacon& egg roll - tasty but coffee was lukewarm, tea was stewed and hot choc was fine. Service was poor. But ... We did have trains arriving and departing on either side of us! :-)
