My daughter rented two cottages at Portnellan for the celebration of her 21st birthday. We had no idea what to expect before we arrived, and we had travelled from the United States to attend her birthday. The magic of Portnellan added to the magic of seeing my daughter turn 21. What a beautiful location, and the cottages were lovely vacation homes with everything we could need.
Everyone had a terrific time, the young ones and us old-timers! Thank you to the gracious staff (namely Cameron's family.) You made us feel welcome and made her celebration a delight!
I highly recommend these cottages for anyone who loves a magical place to sleep and roam in one of the most magical places I've ever been!

A really great base for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland, and lots to keep the family occupied, from canoes and bikes, to games and dvd's. Lodge very clean, well maintained and equipped, and with plenty of its own space. The loch and mountain views, the peace and restfulness of the place, even the purity of the tap water, all make you want to stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in Whooper 4 star lodge.

Well-equipped, clean and comfortable lodges with stunning views and plenty to do in the surrounding area. Perfect for a relaxing weekend away. Cameron is really helpful. We stayed in 'Whooper' and spent time canoeing and cycling as well as relaxing on our balcony with a BBQ and drinks.

The well-equipped, semi detatched, lodge we stayed in (Stob Binnein) had Ben More behind and Loch Dochart in front. We explored the environs, climbed Ben More, rowed on the loch, ate out and brought excellent local produce back to cook. We also got to the Fringe in Edinburgh, to Oban, Glencoe and took the Harry Potter train (The Jacobite) to Mallaig. We managed with ease to go riding, get on segways and go sketching in local castles and museums, visit a smokehouse, a distillery and Rosselyn Chapel (Name of the Rose). A calm and beautiful base with a warm welcome from the hosts and a destination in itself, lots of thought behind the home comforts. You do need to set aside time in order to leave the lodge more or less as you found it.

Room Tip: check wifi availability.

My partner and I stayed at Portnellan in the Fisher Lodge, which had just been refurbished. It was very homely and beautiful. Cameron was a perfect host. Weather wasn't too great but didnt stop us from doing anything, Loch Dochart was perfect for fishing. The views from the lodge were spectacular. It was great to just sit out on the patio and relax and be able to enjoys the views. We will definately be returning at some point. Thank you Cameron and family for a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

We stayed here 29th june for 3 nights 4 adults and 2 children and one dog. We all had a fabulous time. We stayed in the gamekeepers lodge which was in a perfect setting, the view from the window was stunning, we could only see the loch from the kitchen window but it really didn't matter, it is so peaceful and tranquil. We didn't venture far as we were happy to just chill out on the balcony go for walks around the estate, and make use of the free boats and bikes. We had a wee walk up Ben mor (not to the top i might add!) Next time maybe. The lodge itself was like a home from home and the dishwasher and washer/dryer were a godsend as it did rain a lot and the children were needing changed several times a day. The rain did not spoil it for us as it was really warm. I hope the next time i go the sun is shining. My only complaint which is not the fault of Cameron was the Midges!!!!!!! Great hospitality, great place to stay, would highly reccommend.

We stayed at Portnellan in may half term, we were blessed with the best weather in Britain.. We had a warm welcome from Cameron and his team, who were always on hand to help. The facilities were great for us as a family, we made great use of the free bikes and boats. The location was great for sight seeing and relaxing. We had great fun doing the treasure hunt and even the dog enjoyed the local piper who visited the site..
