We made an overnight stop at the Luib Hotel on the way back from Skye, and whilst initially I was a bit dubious due to the fact that no-one was around, we couldn't have received a warmer welcome and the food (especially the "fully monty" for breakfast, was out of this world. Thanks to James and Nelly for a comfortable stay and great hospitality. We also had our dog with us and she also enjoyed the welcome and espcially the large meadows at the back of the hotel and fantastic views of the hills and beyond.

Room Tip: Maybe one away from the main road, but this wasn't too busy during the night due to the location

I passed the Luib hotel without stopping as I headed towards Oban. I stopped at another hotel further along the road looking for a room but they were full and recommended the Luib - lucky me! The hotel has genuine character, the food is excellent and the owners could not be more welcoming or accommodating. The evening was spent at the bar in a relaxed atmosphere created by James and enjoying his company and the company of the other guests. A fantastic range of malt whiskies which has been lovingly collected about which James appears to have extensive knowledge was the highlight of my visit. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

This was our 4th overnight stay at this lovely hotel on our way to the Isle of Mull. Again we had a warm welcome from our hosts Nelly and James. Our room was clean and comfortable as ever. My husband always has steak for his evening meal and says " you cannot get a better steak anywhere". Thank you James and Nelly - see you next year.

My husband and I are just back from a lovely stay with James and Nelly at the Luib Inn - we turned up with our 3 month old baby and 2 lively collie dogs and we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome, thank you. Lovely big room, delicious home cooked dinner and big breakfast and fantastic location. We'll be back for the snow this winter!!!

After a mix up with a larger hotel we were offered the opportunity to stay in the Luib. We could not of been more delighted to have been offered this chance. The hotel is ran by a couple who are both lovely and could not do anymore to make you feel welcome. James runs a well stocked bar and Nelly provides the home made cooking. The rooms are spacious and clean.
If you are looking for a quirky hotel I would defo recommend the Luib and it's 134 malt whiskeys to choose from.

We had a wonderful time at the hotel. It was our first stop of our 10 day visit to Scotland. James and Nelly are very friendly. They are the kind of people who make you feel at home right away. The room was very clean and comfortable. Perhaps a chair could have been useful :-)
The food was nice home cooking. The breakfast more than enough.
Christmas last a whole year at Luib (phone, lights...)
When we left we promised to go back, and so we did at the end of our trip to Scotland.
We had a very good time with the other guests as well. When we left for home we even got a hug from the owners ;-)
We will be back.

Room Tip: If you want a twin, just ask for it.

We stayed here overnight as we wanted to visit Killin the next day. The hosts remembered us and we were spoilt as if we were long lost members of the family. We had a great dinner, special of the night was roast highland beef, there was a big table with other guests and some locals, all in all a fabulous evening and one we will remember for a long time. We are already planning a return visit.
Thank you James and Nelly your hospitality is really something special
