This is my second review and stay in this hotel. The negatives,it needs some TLC .But on the other hand, this is a lively friendly hotel .Were were greeted on our coach (Welshes of Upton) by one of the managers ,who explained the check in procedure. All went smoothly .The evening meal was a hearty choice of fish or meat, and cooked really well, and presented well. the breakfast was a full Scotish Breakfast .And this continued for the following three days. The staff here are lovely ,kind helpful and always smiling. No complaints at all.Thank you

Room Tip: High numbers are usually better rooms.

Just home from this hotel after an over night for a Christmas Ceilidh, what a great night/ day we had, from the moment we walked through the door. The welcome from all the staff was excellent home from home they could not do enough for you, nothing was a problem, The food was first class for a party night and very good choice and hot, the breakfast was plenty and again hot, well done everyone keep up the good work xc

Room Tip: We had a triple room looking out to the bus stop very big rooms

My girlfriend and I stayed for one night on Friday 13th December 2013 for a Murder Mystery dinner - so if anything was to go wrong it would be on this date!!
Our first impressions were very good. The Christmas decorations were tasteful and traditional. The open log fires were roaring away, and we were greeted with a smile by the receptionist.
Our room was excellent too. Newly refurbished with a fresh smell of paint.
The bar was welcoming and we found a comfortable seat next to the fire with some drinks before dinner.
The evening entertainment was top quality. Enthralling and hilarious, and of course tested our wits! Who was the murderer!! Great stuff.
Dinner was a traditional Christmas menu which was served quickly and tasted great. We stayed up until the bar closed and rested easy before breakfast the following morning.
This included a traditional Scottish cooked breakfast and the usual continental options. Perfect.
Checking out was quick and easy.
We will definitely return and also highly recommend this hotel to others.

Dedicated Staff, welcoming attitude, attention to even the smallest detail.
Would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone.
Real log fires contributing to the 'homely feel'.

Room Tip: Book well in advance, as this Hotel is very popular with return visits.

Garswood Ramblers' Club weekend coach trip to Loch Lomond and the Trossacks was for walkers and coach tourers alike. The welcome at the Winnock was warm and friendly, as were the open fires in the lounge. Everything from the booking in to the return to the coach was slick and professional. The quality, presentation and service of the food was first class. The entertainment couldn't have been more eclectic as the artwork attached shows, from a Meatloaf Tribute to a demonstration of weaponry and traditional garb of the Jacobite era. George Ashton Coaches of St Helens, Merseyside were, as ever, helpful and efficient.

We stayed as part of a group of 6 in October. The Murder Mystery night itself was dreadful. The story was awful and the acting even worse. The detective character hadn't even learned his lines and read it from a script. The humour was completely off the mark (know your audience!) and left us feeling uncomfortable. Several of the guests decided not to bother going down for the reveal in the morning. Breakfast was disappointing. The one positive thing I will say is that the evening meal was beautiful (even though the service was somewhat chaotic, the wrong menu had been given out to our table, the staff were confused etc). We won't go back.
