Didn't spend much time in hotel as we were in the area attending a wedding at nearby hotel. Our room was large and spotlessly clean, quiet and beds very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and service very friendly. Hotel was busy and open fires very welcoming.

On approach this looks wonderful, the original building oozes age and caracter. however thats where it stops. The dirtyness in the enterances is not good the dust on the walls around the porch table is bad. the open fire area is nice and the seating a little tired but comfortable. they had a tour of elderly staying which was nice..... however the bar has a huge tv playing MTV too loud( really loud and not suitable for the image of old-world comfort get rid of it!) considering the clients... the tables were all sticky however the barman was nice. the dinner menus represents the 1980's such a pity and the dinning room again lacked any justice to the building. Our room was fantastic big and the shower was great really comfortable. Breakfast OMG! the music again too loud and who wants tecno with eggs learn and look at your clients. poched eggs had seperated and the yolk was like a bullet. Limited cold buffet. I have never wrote a poor review as you will see from all my reviews but I hope they take some of this on board because this could be an amazing place.... to be honest we stayed at another 3 star best western in edingburgh following night and they where way above the standard of the Winnock. If the issues are resolved we would stay again otherwise no... sorry guys you need to do a little more rather tan putting tvs in the bathrooms!!!

Room Tip: high numbers are better but its a let down could be amazing place

Full coach party everyone on our trip enjoyed it very much. Excellent clean rooms, excellent friendly staff and service. Food was first class. Would recommend it to anyone. Evening meals were really really excellent. We also had evening entertainment.

Stayed here for 4 nights, on a dinner bed and breakfast basis. The reception area has a roaring log fire and is very cosy. The stags head above the fire I found a bit disconcerting, it's eyes followed you around, but as the hotel is reputed to be haunted i i guess the scene was set.
There are long corridors and sets of steps along the way to the rooms, not ideal for the less mobile. Our room number 26 , had 3 single beds in it, and only 2 of us, so a bit like a mini dormitory. At least we weren't shown to 38 or 39 - the most haunted ones apparently!
The room was fine, but our one gripe was the lack of hot water for a shower, it was a bit like fred karnos circus, even when we mentioned it to reception it still didn't appear to be rectified. Nothing worse than getting up to a cold shower, except maybe breakfast at 8 every morning? A little on the early side for me. Think it may have been because we were part of a larger group though.
The food was good, and very generous portions with plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner. We were on a package trip so also had all inclusive drinks 7.30 to 10.30.
Each evening we had some kind of entertainment, singers, a quiz, and, a weapons talk. Yes you read it correctly, a weapons talk.
All in all we had a peaceful and relaxing few days, and the local scenery is stunning, Loch Lomond, loch fyne, and loch katrine are just beautiful.

Room Tip: Ask for one with decent plumbing !

Came with my wife for weekend break on an Easybreak deal. Clean and comfortable room, friendly staff and good food. The thing we enjoyed most about the Winnock was that it felt as if the other guests were really enjoying themselves. Happy vibe about the place and great location.

Booked through easybreaks, 2 adults,2 nights db&b and bottle of wine for £130!! Wasn't expecting much at this price. I was so wrong! We arrived early and reception went out of their way to make sure we got checked in before 3pm. Then the surprise at the size of our room (31) with a four poster and massive TV. Lots of lovely fresh towels and plenty tea and coffee. Sat downstairs by the fire till dinner time. I could have went to sleep, such a lovely atmosphere. Bar staff were so nice and friendly. Then came the dinner, this chef should be on the TV. Restaurant is beautiful and we easily could have been in a 5 star! Food was to die for and served by very professional staff, they are all so nice and not one thing is a bother to any of them. Spent the night in the ptarmigan, just fabulous. Next day was a repeat, everything top notch yet again. Special mention to Tracy on reception, what a laugh! I would be very proud if this was my establishment and would praise all the staff continuously. When we were at breakfast (which was also delicious, loads of choice and always served piping hot)the first I asked when our room would get cleaned, the girl went and spoke to housekeeping asking them to do our room first while we had breakfast. Sure enough, that's exactly what happened. Went upstairs to a lovely fresh room, clean towels and tea all replenished. The cleaning girls were also so accommodating and lovely people. Definitely will be returning. Thank you so much to all of you at The Winnock for making us feel so welcome, treating us like royalty and making our weekend perfect. Well done guys, keep up the amazing work!!!

Just had a few days at the Winnick hotel, Drymen with my husband, and can say it was value for money, The reception staff were excellent and the four course evening meal was first class. I would say that parts of the hotel could do with a make over but it's charm, friendly staff and a bedroom that was bigger than the one we had in Las Vegas who could complain.Would recomend the Winnock for a short break.

Room Tip: ask what is in the bedroom. we had two king size beds, couch and single seat and there was still ple...
