Spent night at hotel as part or murder mystery night for friends birthday. Staff were friendly and helpful, service was great, especially as they had a wedding to tend to as well as us ( a party of 14)! The event was fantastic and finished after a lovely buffet breakfast. Excellent value for money. Already talking of it being an annual event

We stayed here for a murder mystery weekend and we were not disappointed. We had a lovely time and the murder mystery was hilarious, great fun to take part in and the hotel is what it is friendly and cosy. We will definitely be back

This 97 bed hotel is very near Glasgow and reflects that cities values. It was constructed in 1702 when Scotland was last independent and has been much added to.It has an excellent location right on the village green The staff are young and helpful the rooms warm and comfortable there is a range of restuarant and bar meals available though the day.The bar area has a log fire (lit in march not always so in Scotland) and constant MTV.We were at a function that was well run and the hotel were able to cope with a murder mystery night and a coach trip at the same time indicating good organisation and training. The full Scottish breakfast int e morning was to die for(literaly)

Stayed a couple of nights to go trekking in Lomond National Park. Staff very friendly and efficient, got an upgraded room (std to a superior) without asking! Room was very comfortable with nice en-suite and balcony. Not too noisy even with other events going on in the hotel. Bar was well stocked with lovely scotch whisky and good log fires, served by friendly bar staff. Bar food was sound and arrived quickly. Breakfast was perfect for a day on the hills - full Scottish with plenty of coffee and toast.

The only gripe (if you can call it that) is that it was very popular and quite busy in the evenings!

All in all, though, this hotel ticked all the boxes we wanted. Perfect for a short stay. Highly recommended.

Stayed for four nights - lovely country pub atmosphere with log fires. Very friendly helpful staff.
Food excellent. Room very comfortable. Fantastic entertainment which we did not expect.
Bar busy and obviously locals eating there which must say something about the food

Ate here recently and enjoyed a warm welcome from Alec in the bar who was very helpful from start to finish. Food was delicious and a generous portion size. Was quite quiet but the bar still had a nice atmosphere and a lovely roaring log fire. Have not eaten here for a while but will definately be back in the near future
