“Ideal Location”
Reviewed 26 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

The Ballat Smithy is the ideal location for exploring the Loch Lomond area and is also within easy reach of Glasgow, Sterling and Edinburgh.
The two bedroomed Smithy was surprisingly spacious, very clean and had all the amenities we required for a great week long holiday.
The nearby town of Dryman is constantly busy with many hikers and travellers making their way to Loch Lomond and the Highlands. There are quite a few good eateries, particularly The Clachan Pub and Skoosh coffee shop in Dryman, and The Oaks on Loch Lomond shores.
Anne, the owner of Ballat Smithy, was very helpful with local information and provided us with a lovely welcome parcel of local eggs, bacon, cheese, bread and homemade jam.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

“5 Star Establishment Throughout”
Reviewed 21 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

The cottage is perfectly situated for easy access to The Trossachs and Loch Lomond (especially the more beautiful but less accessible eastern side). It is also only an hour from the bright lights of Glasgow. The cottage has a large parking space and inside is immaculately clean and has everything one could reasonably want or expect. I often have trouble sleeping but had no problem doing so in the large double bedroom at the back which was perfectly quiet. The twin room at the front is also spacious and well laid out. The owner, Anne, and her family were most friendly and helpful. I couldn't fault this place. Definitely on my list for a return visit.

“Perfect stay!”
Reviewed 23 March 2016 for a stay in November 2015

Stayed here for 3 nights together with our 13 month old daughter. Lovely cottage. Very cosy but enough space. Had a warm welcome an received a welcome package. The cottage is a perfect place to stay for a few days to explore the region. Be sure that you exactly know where to find it, because not so easy to find in the dark.

Perfect parking in front of the cottage. Even if it lays just beside the road, you don't have any inconvenience from the noise. Would definitely stay here again when back in the region!

“Cosy Cottage 3 day stay"”
Reviewed 19 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We used Ballat Smithy Cottage as a base for the first 3 days of the West Highland Way (which we completed - yes all 97 miles on foot!!!) It was very convenient to all our stops and starts( we did use a car for that) and absolutely wonderful to return to after a long days hike - plenty of hot water and a comfy bed to sink into. It is also very well placed to visit Glasgow /Edinburgh/ Perth or Stirling for the day too and does not lack anything.

What a wonderful place to stay:) the cottage is beautiful, cozy, well equipped and has a very homely feel to it. Very comfortable beds too:) Anne has kindly left us a "welcome pack" in the fridge which we enjoyed a lot:) fabulous place to stay and do little trips during the daytime to nearby lake and castles. The scenery is truly breathtaking and the drive a very pleasant one. Board games for the relaxing evenings were definitely a hit with us:) It was our first but definitely not the last trip to Scotland. We highly recommend the Ballat Smithy Cottage!!!!

“Perfect cottage in a beautiful location”
Reviewed 29 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Just returned home from a lovely week staying in ballast smithy cottage. Very good value for money . We found the cottage very comfortable and were surprised at all the little extras :- eg welcome food pack, wifi, DVDs and books, charger adapter plug, vanity unit in the main bedroom., washing machine and detergent..
We found the beds very comfortable, the bathroom very clean and instant hot water whenever we wanted it.
The cottage is situated in an ideal position for exploring Loch Lomond and the Trossachs and also in easy reach for Stirling, Glasgow and the Highlands. We enjoyed exploring the little villages nearby and recommend Drymen for eating out.

“Fab cottage and a great, midge free location, for serious mountain walking!”
Reviewed 26 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Great cottage with very tasty welcome pack and a great location for mountain walking with many peaks less than an hours drive away. Stirling also v close for a day out if it's wet! Also good pubs in Drymen and Balmaha less than 15 mins drive. Only criticism is the patchy wifi! We will be back!
