“WEST HIGHLAND WAY TRIP”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

We stayed at this hotel after a day walking the west highland way, much of it in the rain! The hotel staff were very pleasant upon arrival and took our bags to our room when it was ready for us. The room was of a lovely size, however very dated and looking tired, particularly in the bathroom

We enjoyed a nice breakfast the following morning before continuing on our walk. Pleasant stay overall

Stayed here for 2 nights midweek and paid £35 each per night for dinner, bed and breakfast , now for that price I wasn't expecting much but I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised . We were checked in efficiently by a very pleasant receptionist , we had room 32 which was very nice , really spacious , huge bed and very clean . Some hotel rooms currently undergoing full refurb but. This didn't cause us any inconvenience . Evening meal was of a surprisingly good standard , really lovely lamb and rib of beef as I said earlier for the price I wasn't expecting too much but everything we had to eat was really nice and well presented . Used the leisure facilities in the morning , swimming pool nice and warm and staffed by a really friendly chap who took time to have a chat in fact all hotel staff were really friendly and seemed to be enjoying what they were doing which made for a good atmosphere in the hotel . I have read some of the less flattering reviews but I can honestly say I would stay here again and would recommend it to friends . For that price it's a cheap wee break in a nice little village .

Room Tip: We found room 32 really good. To the rear so nice and quiet but also close to reception . Spacious r...

This was more Faulty Towers than 'hotel and spa'. Miserable rooms in desperate need of upgrading: cheap mattresses, useless Showers, hard towels which smell of vinegar. Poor quality breakfast and disorganised reception desk. A disaster!

Dear Guest

I thank you for taking the time to write a review after your recent stay. I noted your comments regarding the towels and the head house keeper and I checked the hotels linen stock and forwarded your feedback to the hotels linen supplier.
You stayed with us in room 43 which is a standard double room and this room was fully refitted with new furniture, bedding and soft furnishing 2 years ago and was repainted in March 2014.
We offer upgraded and master rooms in the hotel or BEST WESTERN Rewards member are entitled for afree of charge upgrade.
I hope we will be able to welcome you back in a BEST WESTERN hotel in the future.

One night spent on way to Skye was not the best start for our break. Bedroom was small, drab and dark with a very small window overlooking the back of the building. The mirror was dirty and the suitcase stand was badly scuffed. Bathroom appeared clean until one looked at the paint work. It was so small that a tall person would have had their knees touch the door when on the loo. Breakfast was meagre and the hot servery had scrambled eggs sitting in fluid and nothing looked appetising. Toast was from sliced loaves and no porridge on offer(were we in Scotland?) . The wall by our table was spattered with previous diners spills and the ledge by the table was filthy, no one had dusted or damp cloth cleaned for some while. The only positive was friendly staff.

Room Tip: Best tip is try one of the many Bed and Breakfast establishments in the vilage, they could not be mo...

Dear Guests

i thank you for taking the time to write your recent review, i noted your comments regarding your breakfast experience, we introduced the system that guests can toast their own bread at the continental breakfast buffet and this received very positive feedback from our guests, porridge is served from the kitchen to avoid a skin forming, we offer also other options like smoked haddock and kippers preshly prepared to order.
I am sorry this was not properly communicated to you during your recent stay.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights bed and breakfast, the room was of a good size and the en-suite shower was tall enough for me as i'm 6' 8" tall.
The buffet breakfast was the best i've ever had!- thank you very much to all the staff who made my stay so enjoyable.

Looking for an inexpensive weekend trip to take in a couple of lowland whisky distillery tours, we came across the Buchanan offering a two night half board deal including tickets for the Glengoyne and Auchentoshan distilleries - both of which are fairly local to the area around Drymen. We certainly weren't disappointed with what the staff at the Buchanan came up with and had a wonderful weekend as they arranged everything including the local taxi service to take us around the area. The Buchanan Arms Hotel is very comfortable with clean rooms and very friendly staff and the food choice offered on our menu was excellent and with it being situated in the lovely village of Drymen we had a number of pubs and bars locally to keep us entertained in the evenings. Overall I can thoroughly recommend this hotel whether its for local sight seeing (with Loch Lomond nearby), country walking or in our case taking in the whisky - either way you won't be disappointed.

Did not stay at the hotel.visited the Spa for a massage. We both had the Morrocan muscle melt back massage plus head and facial. The masseus were excellent and this was top class . afterwards you are given mint tea and nibbles in the rest lounge. You can also use the pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Great value.
