“pleasant stay”
Reviewed 2 July 2012

We had a very pleasant few days at the hotel in May. It's a welcoming hotel and the family who own it take a pride in good service. Decor is stylish with solid wooden furniture and modern touches. We were in one of the rooms on the first floor at the front and it was very quiet - a few cars and occasional vans went past during the day but the road is quiet at night. The room and en suite were very spacious, comfortable and clean - the bed was fantastic, ensuring a very good night's sleep. The view was great - a bay window to the front towards the river and another window to the side looking down the road towards Killin.

Breakfast was fine and served in a nice dining room. The only quibble was that the bacon was too salty. We ate in the pub on the first night and the food was reliable pub fare. Nothing exciting but convenient to have something so nearby.

Don't be put off by the live music on Fridays and Saturdays. I can't speak for the rooms at the back of the hotel, but we heard absolutely nothing in our room at the front.

With just a few touches, I would have rated it as an excellent b&b rather than very good - for example nicer quality toiletries and certainly more than 1 tiny bar of soap. I know that I could have asked for more soap but it shouldn't really be necessary to traipse downstairs to ask.

But I would definitely recommend the hotel for anyone looking for a good b&b.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have a nice view

This area of UK has great parks and nature areas. This B&B is nice from outside and inside, lovely old Scotish house, it is a good location, from which to explore the natural environs. The room was clean, comfortable, good size, nothing ostentatious or elaborate, but very nice. The service was good and the breakfast nice - in a pleasant area. The lounge was a gem - exactly the feel that you would want in an old pub, the ambiance was pefect for the situation and the food was actually very good for "bar food", delicious; the service was great; there is a pool table.

Room Tip: The bar lounge is great for dinner and drinks.

Stayed for 1 night as a wee break, and chose this due to location and price. On arrival greeted by owner who was helpful with all information we needed regarding the hotel. Room was nice and clean with a comfortable bed, and a great shower! There is a comfortable lounge for residents, with a lot of books, and games if required. DVD's are also available on request , and the bedroom TV had quite a few channels.
However 2 things detracted from our enjoyment, one was the smell of cooked food which seemed to permeate the hotel, even into our bedroom. Secondly the owners have 2 small children who were always about( as their bedroom is on the ground floor) and at breakfast the next morning were running about and bringing their bicycles into the dining room. ALSO they hotel has live music on Friday and Saturday nights so might be a bit noisy if you are in a room at the back of the hotel.( as that is where the bar is).

Room Tip: probably best to requet a front facing room so away from bar at back.

Fantastic stay at this lovely characterful Victorian house. Large (very) spacious room with one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in! Thoroughly enjoyed a great evening in the bar and the really good live music - was good to see 'locals' using the bar. Excellent breakfast which set us up for the day (and helped the hangover!!).
Very friendly owners who did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Will definitely be back to the Coach House. The Killin area is stunning. The Coach House is an ideal place to use as a base to explore from.

Stayed on a perfect spring night in Killin. Room (Dochart) was very large, comfortable, and well furnished, with a view over the river. Lucky enough to get the table in the bay window in the very attractive dining room. Did not eat dinner at the hotel. Hosts were wonderful; not overly effusive, but genuinely warm and nice people. The little town of Killin was an unexpected delight. We walked along the river, taking in the falls at dusk, and our walk to the nearby Killin Hotel for dinner created a memory that will stay with us forever. The hotel is a bit on the outskirts of town, so a walk into the town itself is a fairly lengthy one. If cutting across Scotland from the area around Lach Lomand to St. Andrews, this is a very pleasant route, and the Coach House is a very pleasant place to stay.

This is a great hotel and we can't complain about anything. The rooms were lovely, comfortable and clean. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The food was great and the atmosphere in the bar at night was nice and relaxed with good music.
I'd just like to say that there are no 'smelly dogs', the shower cubicle was a normal size and the shower was excellent.
We will definetly be back and telling our friends about it.

This was our second stay at this friendly hotel. Run by the owners, the welcome is genuinely warm, the accommodation clean and inviting and the bar meals and breakfast are tasty and well cooked. Our evenings in the bar really rounded off each day and the debate with the locals about wasps (not wosps!) had us in stitches. For a relaxed, enjoyable and entertaining stay, this hotel would be hard to beat.
