Chose the old smiddy for dinner as it was the no 1 in killin according to the reviews on trip advisor. We were late but that was no problem - food was fantastic and service was excellent. Then next day Michael and Lynn did us a huge favour which helped us on our way with our cycle trip. I cannot recommend them highly enough - number 1 is an understatement. Look forward to coming back again.

We spotted the Fish and Chips sign when driving into Killin and returned to track this down later only to find a great little bistro with rooms. We were staying in our caravan but had forgotten to pack towels. Even though we weren't staying we were offered towels for the weekend so we reserved a table for the following evening. Both meals were excellent and Michael and Lynn and their staff were brilliant. We just might leave the caravan at home next time. Thanks.

We booked this great little place after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and were delighted. Super bijoux room overlooking the falls with a comfy bed, a decent dinner menu for hill walkers and some interesting whiskeys to sample! Very friendly husband and wife team who really do have a thriving business.
I asked about gluten free options and would feel very happy to return with our coeliac daughter one day. The kitchen is nut free which might be useful info for some.

Room Tip: Only 3 rooms, ring Lynne and she will advise you.

Popped into the Old Smiddy for a family lunch and left with a chair. Yes, a chair. The lovely owner Lynn was looking for a home for a little wicker chair, and kindly asked us if we would like it for our little girls. This aside, I would still have given the Old Smiddy five out of five! The best chips I've ever tasted and lovely, melt-in-the-mouth fish. Great for families - Lynn was excellent with our children, and she made the experience of choosing ice creams at their ice-cream bar a memorable one for them! Lovely, interesting decor and atmosphere. Could have happily sat there all day. Super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely go back. Oh, and did I mention how beautiful Killin and the surrounding countryside are?

Checked in for 1 night over Easter weekend - charming service, really helpful and friendly, lovely room - clean and comfortable. Unfortunately couldn't eat in the bistro due to a group booking, but that's our fault for not booking and the owner did offer us an early sitting - we just went to the pub over the bridge instead which was fun anyway. Would recommend highly as a place to explore area from - some lovely walks around the village and the falls are beautiful if you are lucky enough to get early morning sunshine like we did.

We booked the Old Smiddy at last minute in late December, to attend a family funeral in Killin. Michael & Lynn kindly opened up 2 rooms for us & other family members, although the accommodation was officially closed for winter. We had front facing room overlooking Falls of Dochart. Ideal in summer, but room was, initially, bitterly cold, despite heating being on. Probably because it had not been used recently. We had an extra heater provided, which we used. A very cramped room for 2 large people, & shower room very small & very cold, but adequate & clean, except for one thing - a large cobweb on main light shade! We lived with it! Tea/Coffee making facilities in room. Our welcome was excellent, friendly & nothing too much trouble. M & L superb people. Ideal hosts. We had lovely breakfasts. Michael's Porage was to die for ! 4 of us had dinner there on second evening & it was delicious, with very nice bottle of wine.
Would definitely recommend this B&B, & would go there again, but ask for the larger front room next time. In summer it must be wonderful!
Thanks for "rescuing" these weary travellers, & especially under the sad circumstances of our reason for being in Killin, Michael & Lynn. See you again !

Fabulous friendly welcome. There were 6 in our party and we all had lovely rooms with comfortable beds and ensuite facilities. In the restaurant we were treated to a great STEAK PIE, tasty roast pork & delicious fish 'n' chips in a light crispy batter. We all loved it and look forward to visiting again soon.
