From the beautiful room to the excellent breakfast this place cannot be faulted. Lynn has the perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism, add in fish and chips to die for, a wonderful view and a lovely relaxed atmosphere, what more could you ask for?

I organised a meal for 25 of us at T.O.S. before our last Munro (see Dreeb 128 below). Michael was very obliging and helpful. On the day he and his staff were superb. They catered for a wide range of needs (including kids) without turning a hair. The food was excellent and the service very good. Even better, they arranged good weather for the next day so the entire team made it to the top of Meall nan Tarmachan.

We highly recommend the Old Smiddy. We booked it for 2 nights based on reading the reviews here, and were not disappointed. The rooms, while small, were comfortable and cute. Breakfast was delicious (choice of a la carte or Scottish breakfast). We ate in the restaurant both nights (Lynn very kindly made a reservation for us even though the restaurant was booked most of the night)- we loved it! I'd recommend the caramel apple pie with the Scottish tablet ice cream for dessert :) My husband had the fish & chips and agreed with other posters here...the fish was the best (of the many) he had on the trip. Very happy we stayed here!

The best service we have ever had. Good food, excellent rooms , and mike & lyn make you feel at home. Do not book anywhere else if you want to stay in Killin. We had originally booked at the falls but found it very unwelcoming so phoned the old smiddy and Lynn saved the day . Will definetly be back.

We had an excellent group meal for 30+ people to celebrate a final Munro weekend for a couple of friends in May. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the meal we had was very good too and efficiently served despite having such a large group all together.

I stayed at The Old Smiddy a few weeks ago. The owner was extremely helpful when I made the booking. We were arriving late and they reserved a table for us in the restaurant. Great to arrive, get organised and just go downstairs for food. Great views from window table to the falls of dochart. The meal was very good and value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Due to late arrival we were the last guests in the restaurant but not made to feel rushed or unwelcome.
Great location near the falls and within walking distance of local pub if you fancy a drink.
Fab room with views of the falls. Clean and tidy with nice furnishings.
When I am next in Killin overnight I would definitely look to make a booking at The Old Smiddy.

Room Tip: I liked the room at the front because you had views of the falls and the traffic late night/early mo...

The Ruby Room is a bit on the bijou side. However, it was clean and very well presented. People of large build may struggle in the bathroom. There are lovely views of the river from the window.
Breakfast - either continental or cooked. If both there is a £4 supplement. The continental includes a lovely freshly prepared fruit salad (including strawberries, melon, blueberries, kiwi fruit). They offer a full Scottish breakfast but I went back for the continental each day.
I had one meal in the bistro. A very tasty and well prepared ribeye steak. The chilled cakes and tarts are just fantastic. I would recommend the cherry and custard tart.
At breakfast Michael was chatty and interested in my background and holiday activities. Lynn hosted the evening meal and was equally friendly. I got a complementary top up of wine. Lynn and Michael really made this a pleasant stay.
In future I will give this place serious consideration when returning to Scotland with my wife a two young children. The menu would be suitable whilst the meals are served 12pm to 8pm.
