“Intimate...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2013

If you are a megalithomaniac like Mary and myself you will love Kinnell of Killin Stone Circle. There are only six stones in the configuration but that's all there ever were, and the small size of the circle is what makes the site so intimate, gentle, serene, and such a pleasure to experience. The stones themselves are a good size and well worth the visit.

“Kinnell or Killin - a picturesque stone circle by any name”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2013

When researching this delightful, rarely seen little stone circle from millennia ago, I was a bit confused about name and location. I finally sorted it out - and can advise anyone visiting the Loch Tay area of Scotland to take a few minutes "off the beaten track" to see this gem. Confusion arises from the fact that Kinnell stone circle (located near Kinnell House - so I know that this is "correct") is located only a few hundred yards away from the town of Killin - site of the spectacular Falls of Dochart.
To reach the stone circle, you drive down a lane which exits the road, beside an inn located by the bridge at Killin. When you pass through the massive gate pillars of Kinnell House, you can park and will see the stone circle in the adjacent field. You can enter through a gate and join the sheep amongst the picturesque stones.
Visiting the circle does not involve invasion of privacy - Kinnell House must be nearby, but is not close to the circle. Definitely worth a visit by stone circle fans.
As an aside, do not be mislead by reference to the "healing stones of Killin" , stones not upright or in a circle, located in the river at Killin. This has probably added to the confusion which has arisen about names and locations.
