“Honeymoon bliss”

We have just spent a week's honeymoon staying at The Bothy and have had the best time ever.

The cottage itself is relaxing and cosy, modern yet very tastefully decorated with nods to it still being a very old building. The hot tub is superb! When it rained one evening I found an excuse to go for a bath in the roll top tub and that was very relaxing. Lovely powerful shower too! Kitchen has everything you'd need, bedroom was very clean, spacious and comfortable and the living room was very cosy, despite being open-planned. A very lovely cottage to come home to after sight seeing almost every day!

We took a taxi one night to the Killin Hotel (£20 each way) and had a lovely evening meal there. Lunch at the Courtyard @ Mains of Taymouth in Kenmore which filled us up nicely and for Sunday lunch we went a mile up the road to Ben Lawers Hotel and had the most delicious roast beef!

There's loads to do in the surrounding area - we spent a day at Highland Safari, well worth every penny!! We also hired a boat and went onto the loch for an hour at the boating centre in Kenmore. Castle Menzies is about half an hour away and was nice too. We also spent the day in Pitlochry which was about an hours drive away.

Would not hesitate to come back to the Bothy and will be looking into some of the larger properties on the Craggantoul estate for family holidays in the near future!

“Beautiful, peaceful retreat! Sheer bliss!”
Reviewed 26 April 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Had a wonderful belated Valentine's stay here with my boyfriend in February. It was very easy to locate with the directions given and once we arrived, our breath was taken away by the magnificent scenery.

Once inside the quaint cottage, the interior is fabulous and so much bigger than expected! Slick, clean, contemporary and tasteful decor throughout, with everything you could need for a short stay. The cottage was very warm considering the outside temperatures and we didn't need to use the fire once. We particularly enjoyed chilling out in our robes with the snow gently falling outside, sipping on hot coffee and puzzling over a jigsaw, bliss!

The hot tub was brilliant with the chilly breeze around us and the surrounding areas were great for walks and star gazing. Simply beautiful location.

We ventured into nearby Killin for dinner at the Bridge of Lochay hotel which was lovely and the taxi service from Killin Taxis was excellent.

The only point I'd note is that upon arrival, you may feel it's not as secluded as expected as there are several surrounding properties nearby. However, this did not cause any privacy issues so don't let it put you off. In fact I don't think we spotted anyone during the stay apart from when we were on a walk at the other end of the estate. If anything, it was comforting to know there was civilisation nearby!

All in all, great relaxing stay in a beautiful place for a very reasonable price. What more could you want?

Liked best: Lazy afternoons spent in the hot tub!
Liked least: Nothing I didn't like, the wifi was poor but there wasn't any need for it in The Bothy.
