Mansewood Country House

Reviewed 20 September 2013

We had our honeymoon at the Mansewood and it was perfect. The hosts went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was first class and the house had so much character. Our room was beautifully decorated and spotless with high quality beds. Thank you so much Alan and Sharon. We will definately be back.

Spent an enjoyable night staying at Mansewood Country House. Lovely location, and we were made to feel welcome. We opted for the dinner, bed & breakfast option, and really enjoyed the food. The room was very comfortable, and we would stay here again, if we are passing.

Mansewood Country House Hotel was a great find - it has a really nice feel about it. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and we had 2 good nights sleep on the extremely comfortable bed. The breakfasts were plentiful and really set us up for the day. We were so pleased we had booked dinner at Mansewood on both nights - the meals were well prepared and well cooked and Alan's lemon cheesecake was to die for! We certainly hope to return sometime in the future to enjoy Sharon and Alan's hospitality again.

On a damp day Alan's cheerful welcome was gratifying (even if the dog seemed to take the view that he'd seen it all before!. A very comfortable room. Excellent food including the haggis stuffed chicken breast which is much to be recommended. A large breakfast and a feeling of well being in spite of the drizzle as we left. Very good value.

Liked this place. The location is good, the house itself has real character, nice décor- and has some nice rooms you can go in (so more like a hotel, than a b+b in that respect)
Owners were friendly and welcoming.
The breakfast was above average, and the evening meal was excellent. If the weather had of been better it would have been terrific to sit on one of the benches on the lawn, and take in the scenery.
Only downside- and it was an issue for a sunday morning(!) was that the latest time to have breakfast was 8.30.....no chance of a lie in! (and 10.30 checkout is a touch early)
With a more generous breakfast time (and 1100 checkout) this place would have got 5 stars...in all other ways it is top notch for the money.

This lovely spot was home to us for three nights. It is well located, giving the option of any number of day trips. The room was certainly warm, clean and adequate in size (but it had those awful thin plastic "glasses"). The owners were very friendly indeed and could not do enough to help us make the most of our touring. The breakfast was excellent, with a good range of very home cooked choices. Perhaps, though, the dining room was a bit on the small size meaning that tables were very close together resulting in an atmosphere that was perhaps a bit more intimate than we would have liked.

A great welcome by Alan and Sharon who provided us with super breakfasts and evening meals.
The room and facilities were excellent. Alan's tips on places to visit were invaluable. Thoroughly recommended.
