“Lovely views”
Reviewed 13 January 2017 for a stay in April 2016

Great holiday home, spacious extremely well equipped kitchen, lovely views. Hot tub was great could use in all weathers as covered from the elements. Stayed with another family but plenty of room for everyone. Great spot if you want to explore more of Scotland. Small shop close by for essentials. Nice walks around the loch with a couple of pubs that also serve food. Lovely location great for all age groups will be booking again.

“Infection after using hot tub!!”

Enjoyed using the hot tub however on our last day we noticed spots on 2 of the children who had used it(aged 6-16). The following day one of the adults in our party ended up in A+E as he had spots all over his body which were tender to touch and had also vomited. The doctor gave him 2sets of antibiotics+explained the rash Was Pseudomonas Folliculitis or hot tub rash caused by bacteria in the water. The rest of the party who had used the hot tub gradually showed symptoms of infection+all had to be treated with antibiotics+take a week off off work. (Unpaid) We contacted the agents about this mostly so others would not experience the same poor health and loss of earnings that we did. Our doctor offered to provide a letter to prove that we were all affected by this. We had no contact with the owners and only after perseverance, we recieved a cheque for £75 in the post (after having paid £150 for use/maintenance of the jacuzzi for the weekend). Until this occurred we were very pleased with the accommodation and so didn't feel the need to complain about the cob webs in communal areas, lack of wifi even though this is advertised+the murky tap water. we are extremely disappointed with how the situation was handled+upset that what was supposed to be a nice family break ended up further costing us financially due to sick leave, not to mention having to see our young children deal with a range of symptoms including nausea and fever. I hope no one else has to go through it.

“Idyllic Location”
Reviewed 31 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

My wife, teenage kids & I had a fabulous time in this clean & spacious holiday home. Loch Goil itself is a beautiful part of the world & Crann Mhor is the ideal location to explore the wild beauty of this area. It has a hot tub (highly recommended after a days walking) & glorious views across the loch.
There are lots of activities on your doorstep: walking, cycling, golf, fishing. The high point of our week was hiring a motor boat & spending an afternoon on the loch, where we saw seals, porpoise & gannets hunting for fish.
Highly recommended!

“smoke & electrics = re-wire required”

Myself and a group of close friends stayed at this property for our annual "halloween getaway" this year which featured, Mr & Mrs Potato head, a toy solider, Walter White, Ghostly Pirates and a Blow Up Doll. Upon arriving at the property we were impressed with the size, hot tub and views. This was shortly lived! The property doesn't have central heating, there are storage heaters throughout the house, but half of them don't work and aren't ample for the size of the house nor the Scottish weather. On our first night (before being moved to an another property the next day) the electric circuit breaker caught fire and melted, we only realised due to the strong smell of electrical burning. Systematically things started to fail from there... heating, hot tub, lighting. Although we were moved properties the next day, we were only mildly compensated for the hot tub and the FULL deposit wasn't returned which was absurd given the disruption & danger of our stay.

Firstly thank you for the feedback and sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. I wanted to add to this to say for the benefit of other holidaymakers that the property does in fact have a central heating system which is in the form of electric night storage heaters and electric wall heaters in each bedroom, which all work. There are 2 night storage heaters in the hall and we were aware of one which wasn't working and as we had a planned upgrade in January 2014, it was not practical to repair this whilst another one in the hall was in operation.

We are aware that not everyone is au fait with night storage heating systems and in a holiday home, many people are using the property, so we knew a different heating system would be required eventually and it was unfortunate that you missed the benefit of this on this occasion, as a new combi central heating system was planned for January. There is a button on each night storage heater which simply needs to be pressed and a dial to turn up the heat, for instant heat. Perhaps it didn't feel warm enough if indeed it was associated with the circuit board problem? Some people have even reported how warm the house is. Heat and temperatures are very individual from person to person and even living in the same house, not everyone likes the same temperature. The property however was adequately equipped or would not have passed regulations.

We apologise for what happened to the fuse board and must add that we have the electricity and the fuse board serviced regularly in accordance with regulations and unfortunately this happened in between services and could not have been pre-empted.

The good news is that there will be a brand new central gas heating system installed during January 2014, along with 2 new showers and water/heating via a combi boiler. It is very difficult to plan upgrades of this scale as the house is usually booked out.

We do take great pride in Crann Mhor and like it to be as comfortable as possible for us and for anyone renting it. Any of our regular guests will know that over the last 10 years, the house has had an almost full refurbishment, re-decoration and completely new furnishings, furniture, electric goods throughout, new fixtures and fittings, with various additions and upgrades including decking, hot tub, gazebo and much more - too numerous to mention here.

Some things are within our control and some things are not. Anyone concerned about any negative comments posted are welcome to discuss with the owners directly, especially if looking for any reassurance.

Once again, we sincerely apologise for this unexpected situation.

“Fantastic house, Fantastic views”

We stayed at Crann Mhor in March with our extended family to celebrate my wifes birthday. It was great choice , very clean, comfortable and well presented. Right accross from the golf course with fantastic views over the loch and mountains.
Four spacious bedrooms and large lounge and dining room. the house also has a wrap round deck with a hot tub and pergola. We chose not to use the hot tub this visit.
The house is only a five minute walk up to Drymsinnie estate, where there are various liesure facilities and bars and restaurants.
We have booked up again to go in November.
www.Shorelochhomes.co.uk are the booking agents and we found thenm to be very courteous and profesional.
We highly recommend this house for a large family or group of friends.

“sadly dissapointing stay”
Reviewed 11 February 2013 for a stay in February 2013

Returned to Cran Mor for our second stay in three years and could not believe the changes, sadly not all for the better.
The heating in the hall was broken as was the same in the two twin bedrooms, after a few hours we managed to get the heating in the bedrooms working but not the hall way. The smell of damp hit you as soon as you walked in and obviously hadn't been aired for our arrival even though the person acting on behalf of the couple who let the house had phoned to make sure we were still coming for our break.
The new fridge is a great addition to the kitchen area sadly with so many lights out in the kitchen we struggled to see when we were cooking.
The gazebo over the hot tub is also a welcome addition sadly the glass in the bottom of the hot tub was not, we phoned the man on site responsible for the property to be told he couldnt come over that night but would be over first thing in the morning, so we had seven unhappy females who had been looking forward to a soak in the tub.
Saturday morning came and one of the ladies went to have a shower in the en-suite only for horrible rusty looking water to cascade down, she tried then to turn the shower off only for the water to keep running, we phoned the man again, a handyman arrived a short while later and concluded that the shower could not be repaired but the water could not be turned off as this would affect the whole house.
We where then told the hut tub if drained would be of no use to us until the Sunday night, so we asked to speak to the owners to see what could be done to resolve the issues that where arising as we felt the heating should have been checked before we arrived as well as a few other small things, the shower breaking was beyond anyones control, but their attitude to repairing it was shocking.
After speaking on and off all day Saturday with the owners and their manager (ruining our day) we came to the conclusion they were not really interested in our predicament, seven females and one bathroom doesn't work well, that and the constant running water coming from the en-suite shower lead to what can only be described as a dissapointing weekend in a place that we had fond memories of.
The propieter's attituded left a lot to be desired and I would not recommend this property to anyone

It was a disappointment to read these comments as we had spoken at length with this group of guests on the Saturday in an attempt to try to come to a mutual arrangement on how to sort everything out.  One of the guests did say during our conversations that they would return at another time but wanted compensation for the rest of their stay this time.  What we offered was,  in our opinion, extremely fair and reasonable solutions and monetary compensation (both full refund for the hot tub and a further compensation for the shower not being in use) and whilst we always take everyone's comments very seriously and do our utmost to offer the very best service possible, we do not believe that this deserved such a low rating and hence the need to back this up with additional qualifying comments.
We do however appreciate that everyone is entitled to their own opinions which is of course based entirely on their own perceptions of their experience and we encourage that feedback.
To give our own perspective - There are 2 showers in the property.  The day after the guests arrived, it was identified that the shower in the en-suite bedroom wasn't working and our agent immediately came to investigate and also brought in a plumber who advised that the shower would need to be replaced.  It was Saturday and we did not have a suitable replacement that could be fitted at that time and there was no-one to replace the shower until after the guests had left.  As there was still one working shower in the property, our booking agent offered 2 of the guests the option of staying in a room in his hotel with all facilities on hand as a goodwill gesture and to ease the situation.  They took up this offer.   Going forward, we will now ensure that we have a spare replacement shower in stock, should this happen again (so a valuable lesson has been learned).
In respect of the glass in the hot tub.  This is another one of those situations, which again, is outside our control.  There is a clear notice advising guests that they must NOT use glasses to drink out of whilst in the hot tub for the very reason that glass is extremely difficult to detect and remove once it is there - plus the obvious risk of getting cut.  There is an assortment of plastic glasses for this reason in the kitchen cupboards.  The tiny piece of glass that was found was removed and we offered the option of a full empty and re-fill which would mean that the hot tub would be out of use for some of the time as it takes time to heat up.  We also gave a full refund.  The guests however decided that they would like to continue to use the hot tub without it being emptied and took the refund, as well as the risk that there could be more glass in the hot tub.
In respect of the bulbs - There were spare light bulbs in the drawer in the kitchen and if any light bulbs go out and need to be replaced which aren't in the drawer, they simply need to contact the agent who is local in the village.  Light bulbs can blow at any time and although it is not normal to check every light bulb at every changeover, this has been taken on board for future.
The radiators in 2 of the bedrooms have timing switches on them which, if set on particular settings, may need to have an 'override' done so that they can switch on automatically.  Sometimes young children may tamper with the settings, but we have made a simple notice on how to do this for future guests.
There are 2 radiators in the hallway and one of them is broken which we already recognised but as it is a night storage heater and we intend to replace the full heating system in due course, we do not intend to replace this until then partly as well because the hallway still has one working radiator and it is not a cold part of the house.  No one has raised this as an issue before.

We continue to develop the house to the highest of standards and have upgrade programs every year.  We believe this house offers an extremely high standard of specification but we expect to learn from every situation and welcome this feedback. We also are very open to speaking to anyone personally about any concerns or questions they might have as we do have a very genuine interest in guests and their comments and hope only that they have an enjoyable stay. We have guests returning repeatedly every year and the other comments are testimonials of this.

“Another great break in Crann Mhor”
Reviewed 3 September 2012 for a stay in August 2012

Just back from another fabulous break in Crann Mhor. This cottage has got to be in the best location in Lochgoilhead as its central between the golf course, pubs and Costcutter for those essentials (wine, doritos etc). Since last visiting, there are now lovely new furnishings in the living room and an addition of an amazing gazebo over the hot tub so the rain doesn't get in your wine! Love it, love it, love it!!!
