“Nice and clean cottage overlooking Loch Goil”
Reviewed 6 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017

A nice, warm and well equipped cottage with a beautiful view of Loch Goil. Very quite and peaceful place if you would like to have a good rest away from crowd.

“Fantastic location, comfortable, cosy, beautifully equipped home away from home.”
Reviewed 5 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

The location is perfect for a quiet relaxing get away, with stunning views across the loch. The cottage is fully equipped, very clean, cosy and comfortable. Serendipity brought us here as it was a last minute decision to spend the last week of a long holiday in the UK in Scotland. It was just what we needed before returning home to Australia. The pity is that we are unable to come often! Bring your supplies, although there is a shop near by, if you need to sightsee there is plenty do, but if you want a lost weekend or more this is the place to come. The problem is that you have to leave.

“Lovely cottage in great location”
Reviewed 11 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Lovely little cottage in quiet, tranquil location, with great view of loch. Great for some R&R, walking and leisurely drives to explore area. Cottage very clean and equipped with everything we needed.
Accessed via single track roads which were in very good condition with lots of passing places.
There is a large caravan, chalet holiday park on other side of loch, which you can't really see from cottage but shows what a popular location it is, but all very quiet and no issues with this at all. Indeed it provides additional resources/activities if you which to use these.
The cottage is not ideal for anyone with mobility issues (elderly mother uses a walking frame). Externally there is off road parking right beside cottage which was great and mum was able to access the house via a narrow sloping path down the far side of cottage. However internally there is a shallow step between sun room and shower room to negotiate into main house and three fairly steep steps (with not support rail) down into the en-suite double bedroom. So there was always a step/s to negotiate to access a toilet, which created some anxiety for my mum. There is also steps down into the lovely tiered garden, however she was able to access and sit out in the patio area.
I would very happily return to Ivy cottage again but not with my mother.

“In need to restore your breathe, go here!”
Reviewed 3 September 2016 for a stay in July 2016

This former gardener’s cottage by the side of one of the ‘belle epoque’ villa’s on this side of the inlet offered us all we were looking for. A magnificent view from the sunroom and the beautiful garden, a pleasant feeling with the comfortable interior, an easy woodfire at night, coffee, tea and toast in the morning, and peace! The trailer park on the other side of the inlet is remarkable quiet, also no harassing noisy behavior on the water. Lochgoilhead is just located in a timeless off the road corner. Jolly good! our neighbour used to say. It’s a village though with two crowded pubs for good meals, Fyne Ales and friendliness. Centrally situated for day trips in all directions. Aside from the well known tourist targets I’d like to mention the Hill House in Helensburg, an architectural highlight by Charles Rennie Macintosh with interior design by his wife Margareth MacDonald. And don’t forget in the opposite direction to Inveraray to stop for (shell)fish at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar. Gosh, I wished we’d be back soon!

“Beautiful Cottage - Beautiful Location”
Reviewed 9 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Had a fantastic week at Ivy Bank. Cottage spotless and well prepared. Beautiful Views from sun lounge and garden and Loch Goil is a perfect base.

We had some fantastic walks in and around the area, hired a boat, went canoeing and visited nearby beauty spots and places of interest, (Inverary, Loch Fyne etc). Kids loved the seals, especially when they steal your mackeral of the fishing line. Pubs in village ok, but could be a little more interesting food and drink wise.
