Description: Great food in a great location - that is what The Village Rest is all about. Always comfortable and friendly, you can be assured of a great time whether you're just in for a cup of coffee and a cake, or a large meal. Our varied and well balanced menu changes regularly and is in season and the food always fresh. We aspire to serve delicious homemade dishes with locally sourced produce. Our atmosphere is relaxed with an eclectic interior. The Village Rest is casual enough for lunch or tea, and yet formal enough for special occasions. In the perfect village of Luss, The Village Rest is ideally placed for enjoying Loch Lomond and the scenery of the national park. Arguably Scotland's most beautiful loch, Loch Lomond is also one of the largest. There is huge variety too, between the gentle sweeping farmland of the southern edge to the rugged highland shores of the north. Luss is positioned on the edge of the Highlands and has great views across to the islands and mountains of Loch Lomond.Luss is connected to central Scotland by the A82, a good quality fast road, with driving times of less than an hour from central Glasgow.

An excellent find (thanks Trip Advisor reviewers) that more than came up to expectations.

Very good, no nonsense food with the odd surprise thrown in (never had haggis pakoras before but I will again!) served in good time with good spacing between courses.

Staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful and found doggie treats for our Jack Russell who was also made welcome.

Clean throughout common areas and with spotless toilets.

We shall return on our way to and from Kennacraig.

Popped in for a tea and scone after a lovely walk around Luss.
We were immediately seated by a friendly member of staff who left us to decide on the vast choices of meals and light snacks.
The cafe is obviously a very popular place with locals and tourists alike but they seemed to keep on top of the orders easily.

Our light snack was served with little delay and we enjoyed it very much.

Would definitely return on our next visit!

We ate here planning only a light lunch, expecting a very 'touristy' ambience and were surprised by the friendly service and excellent cuisine! We had starters of prawn salad and soup which were delicious! The waiter ( I am presuming owner or manager ) was friendly and chatty and service was quick and affix ident. The restaurant was full ( it was bank holiday Monday) but there were no delays and the ambience was delightful.

We had sandwiches and baked potatoes for our mains which were delicious, served with lovely fresh salad and homemade coleslaw. The wine which was served by the glass, with a choice of types and not just the usual house red or white. We finished off our meal with tea and a scone which was served hot and obviously freshly baked. Lovely! When back in Luss we will definitely be back to this wee gem. Not at all what we expected!

We were staying locally and looking for a nice place to eat and were advised to try out the local Bistro "The Village Rest" in Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond. Initially we only popped in for soup and sandwich but ended up having a lot more as it was so good, we have now had three meals on different days and can only say if you want great food, a lovely ambiance and really friendly staff and owners then look no further than here. Highly recommend well done Kevin.
