“Superb place”
Reviewed 7 November 2011

We stayed at the lodge 2 nights for a friends wedding, the accommodation and the event were fantastic. The view you have from the rooms are breathtaking. It was an ideal venue for a wedding with just a short 10 min walk to the little church.

The only thing I would recommend the Lodge look to improve on is the quality of their breakfast. Don't get me wrong it was all very nice, just could have had slightly better quality of meet for the cooked breakfast and a better selection of fruit.

Overall would definatly consider returning again in the future.

My new fiancee and I stayed DBB in one of the Corbett rooms with a balcony overlooking Loch Lomond and a sauna in the room. Rooms, setting, spa facilties were all exceptional. Breakfast in bed certainly added to the break. Great place and we will have fond memories of it.

Room Tip: Room 34 is the best room int he hotel. All of the corbett rooms have amazing views.

We have been a few times and have never been disappointed. Relaxing, great views and brilliant food. Staff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Good times and hoping to return soon.

Stayed here for third time on 29 10 2011 for three nights, last twice food not great all else really good and did previously politely say not really impressed with food, taken very well by staff and all was well.Very pleasantly surprised to find food was really good despite being given the wrong side dish twice but no big deal, laughed it off.finished meal and was asked to sign for dinner and drinks. We then sat down with a night cap and immediately asked to pay the drinks tab for the evening which we did, without question or hesitation. We then ate in the restaurant again on the sunday evening, starting with a large gin each only to be served a single(charged for a double tho).We told the waiter who said no its a large one and checked with the supervisor, came back and said no she had poured it and it was a large one, well no guys it was a single we shook our heads politely and within seconds the supervisor was over to tell us she couldnt really remember and gave us the measure we were paying for.Several other things during diner, coldmeats missing from the starters etc etc.On leaving on the monday we went to settle the bill at reception, paid all and just about to leave and had to ask for our cash deposit, twice before it had flagged up but not on this stay mmm.Left to go to oyster bar a few miles on to pickup some goodies and realised we had been charged again for our drinks on friday evening, phoned reception and was told they would look into it and call us straight back.An hour later and no call ,we were passing on our way home and thought we would call in,only to be told that they had no record of the call but would sort it while we waited. The receptionist then came back after talking to the supervisor and told us quite abruptly that we had signed a tab so why would we then be asked for cash.We then assured her for a second time we had been asked to pay and innocently did, then being asked for a receipt which we had never been given nor really expected.we were then told the supervisor would come and speak to us,she never did.
Fortunately at this point the owner came through reception asked what was wrong and to his credit, without question ordered we get refunded immediately, unfortunately he left too soon to hear us get the final insult, the receptionist then walked through and snapped we were to be refunded "whether we had paid or not"in her finest sarcastic tone. This was the end both myself and partner were absolutely furious, totally embarrassed and humiliated. My partner then insisted that someone call us once this had been looked into so we had the peace of mind of knowing our name had been cleared.I received a phone call today from the manager(a call which prompted this review).opening sentance was i am giving you a courtesy call concerning the incident etc or words to that effect to which i replied well it'll be the only courtesy we have been shown since monday and was then interrupted and stopped mid sentence being told he was phoning to talk to me but now wasnt going any further "youve had your money back" i'm speaking no longer and hung the phone up on me,yes and i hope their calls are recorded as i have nothing to hide here, furious i phoned back asked to speak to the owner and was asked what it was concerning.I told the receptionist what had happened and after a short wait i had the manager back on the phone apologising for dropping the telephone(obviously not being allowed to speak to the owner, wonder why).He then went on to tell me that he had looked into it and it was their system at fault etc etc but hadn't found the money yet.I then asked if they have cctv in their bar and was told yes, well if i was the manager and wanted to know who the thieves were i would have looked at it three days ago,i then asked why if they had given me a till bill for the drinks why they didnt check their computer as all tills are linked to the computer which would verify the bill being issued as we had given them the approximate time we had paid three days ago earlier in an effort to clear our names.I now wonder why after three days we still have to tell the staff where to look to bring closure to this matter.Days after returning from what should have been a welcome break we are more uptight than before our arrival at the Lodge.Sorry to all reading for turning this into a novel, there were other things but frankly there quite trivial now,and one for the road and what made me so angry about it my partner is the lady who went back to the supermarket after getting home and finding out they hadnt charged her for an item,me i'd have kept it but not her

We had a beautiful room for two nights and loved it. The weather wasn't kind to us on one day and we spent it relaxing in the spa area and bar - both comfortable and clean.

The food was great, although not explicitly Scottish in origin. Some dishes were clearly locally sourced and the menu would do well to reflect this.

The housekeeping staff were chatty and the chefs - working in a relatively open kitchen - said good morning too. Reception staff were welcoming, helpful and willing to lend an umbrella! Maitre de clearly pulled a dinnner shift followed by a breakfast shift and she was still smiling and friendly.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 36 - it has an excellent view over the loch, a swedish feel complete with sauna in...

Me and my partner stayed here for 2 nights and we were extremely happy with our stay.

We had a Corbett room which had a balcony out onto the loch which was absolutely breath-taking. My only complaint would be that the balcony could have done with a bit of a clean. There were lots of spider webs, and the remains of a birds nest.

The room itself was lovely, a very cosy feel and we loved the sauna – what a great touch!

Although we were only on B&B we did dine both nights in the restaurant, and what lovely food! Hats off to the chef!

Would definitely recommend!
