I got married at the hotel in 2007 and must say that the setting is absolutely wonderful. We had beautiful weather and the location was stunning, especially for a traditional Scottish Wedding. The food was good and the waiting staff professional and attentive.

However, the hotel is somewhat lacking in several areas. The corridors to the new rooms in the Munro Lodge are positively grubby. I had mentioned the carpeting throughout the lodge at a previous meeting and was assured (in writing) that all carpets would be cleaned prior to our big day. Unfortunately it was clear that this had not been done, and it gave the whole place a dated and unkempt feel.

The honeymoon suite was nice enough, although I was disappointed to find the sink leaking and the floor soaking (luckily I noticed before trailing my white gown into it!). Still, the balcony and living area were comfortable with spectacular views, so we were not entirely disappointed. I would suggest it would be a nice touch though, to offer for the new bride and groom to order breakfast in the room, and not to kick them out of the room at 10am on the dot. Our door was knocked at 9:30am to remind us that we had to vacate by 10am!!!

The service from the Wedding co-ordinators throughout the year was good enough and they always responded to our queries promptly and politely. Unfortunately the attention on the day was not so efficient. On the morning of the Wedding the Manager was utterly rude to my father, assuming that he was an assistant to the florist and not in fact the one settling the bill. The Hotel then mistakenly allocated one of our guests a room in the older part of the hotel, instead of the Munro lodge and so they were left with one spare key for the Munro rooms at the end of the day. Rather than sorting the situation himself, the Manager approached the Groom immediately after the meal and told him to sort it out and that we would be paying for this spare room whether it was used or not. It is only with hindsight that we realise how inappropriate this was.

There was also some accidental damage in the hotel which was handled very poorly. Rather than inform us, the Management simply added the cost of replacing the damaged furniture onto our bill, and claimed that the damage was caused by our drunken guests. Since the Wedding was only close friends and family, none of whom were rowdy or overly intoxicated, I was utterly appalled at this suggestion. Our complaints fell on deaf ears, and any correspondence with the hotel was completely unprofessional. The spelling/ grammatical content of the written correspondence was laughable. How disappointing that the wedding co-ordinator couldn’t even be bothered to read over her letter before sending to guests who had spent several thousands of pounds at the Hotel.

All in all, I would recommend the hotel for a short break, some good food and a taste of the beautiful, Scottish scenery. By all means have your wedding here…just be wary of the staff.

Stunning location beside Loch Lomond gets this hotel off to a good start when you arrive, but it rapidly becomes obvious that it is amateurly run and overpriced. A good conference centre and a nice (but cold) pool are among the other attractions. Staff are friendly enough in the main but are inexperienced. Food is well below average quality for a hotel of this type and price. If they halved the cost it would still not be good value as it currently stands. It has probably seen better days and could do so again if they made an effort to tidy the place up, bring in a good chef with ideas above cafe standard and focussed on staff training and service. WiFi access for example was blocked - for everyone - because "the staff had been using it to access facebook". Tells you what you need to know, perhaps?

We stayed here for two nights as a treat for my fiancee's 40th birthday. The overall impression is not that this is a bad hotel but that it just isn't as good as it could be. The food was great, the staff were cheerful and helpful and the views were stunning

We arrived just before midnight, unpacked and discovered the toilet in the room was broken. No problem there was a room downstairs free so we repacked and moved. New room wasn't as nice and was fairly dingy.

After a lovely breakfast we headed fo the spa where I had booked my fiancee a couple of treatments. Therapist turned up and couldn't get into the treatment room as the lock was broken. Worked our way round that and I'm told the massage was great. Then, mid facial, the alarm on the therapists phone went off which rather killed the relaxation. Again, good recovery. She apologised and refused to charge for the facial. Meanwhile I was chrecking out the sauna, steam room and pool (not the laconium. It wasn't working) Nice but no wow factor

Back to reception to be told that our original room is now fixed and our luggage has been moved. Well actually about half the luggage had been moved. I still had a key for both rooms so I moved the rest myself.

Wandered around the village then drank champagne on the balcony overlooking the loch - did I mention that the views were stunning.

Dinner was excellent and there were no more problems until checking out when the bill was wrong on several counts and we were overcharged by about £40. Apologies all round and the bill was corrected with another £30 knocked off as an apology.

To summarise. Not bad but at this price I expected so much more

Although we had problems finding the hotel (sat nav played up), when we arrived we were amazed!! From outside the hotel was picture perfect, clean, well kept and quiet. As we walked inside, the hotel just kept getting better- the staff were friendly the interior beautifully decorated and the rooms were pristine!

The highlights of this hotel are the swimming pool/sauna, and the restaurant! Possibly the best food Ive EVER eaten!!

Highly reccomend this hotel! Can't wait to return!!

We have just returned from a weekend at the Lodge on Loch
Lomond. The setting is absolutely breathtaking, the view from the hotel room was unbelievably beautiful and the facilities were first class.

The staff were extremely helpful, polite and courteous and couldn't do enough to ensure that our stay was first class. We stayed in the Munro style of room and found the facilities and layout wonderful with a mix of modern and traditional styles perfectly mixed to provide a spacious and very comfortable room.

We didn't get chance to try out the leisure facilities, but a look around them showed they would be more than ample for our stay. We attended a family wedding there and were extremely impressed by all elements of the service, reception and overall organisation.

The food in Colquhoun's, the wedding reception meal and the breakfast were all perfect and we can't recommend them enough. I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at the Lodge and we hope to return there ourselves in the very near future.

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Lodge and Loch Lomond and had a wonderful time. We booked a Munro room, which is a lot more modern compared to the Corbett room where we stayed last year. Our room was outstanding and exceptionally clean and the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The only downside to that part of the building was finding your way around and the lift unfortunately broke during our stay. We also had a little trouble with getting our room key to work.
The restaurant was clean and staff were helpful. The food was deleicious however you get very small portions.
The views of the loch are breathtaking whatever the weather and the town called Luss, less than 5 minutes away is small but very beautiful.
Once again, we will return next year.

We returned to the hotel for our 2nd wedding anniversary in January and once again, our stay was amazing! We booked a Corbett double and were on the second floor with breathtaking views across the loch, even when it is raining the view is fantastic. The room was warm and comfortable although we never really spend much time in the room. You can't beat relaxing by the fire next to reception, I love how the dogs wander around, it makes the place feel like home for me,

We stayed for two nights and had two fantastic meals, I would always recommend booking dinner, b&b as is it great value for money.

The swimming pool and leisure centre is in the annex of the hotel - easy enough to find and it has excellent facilities.

The staff are always very attentive to us and treat us like old friends when we arrive, no complaints there whatsoever!

Once again, a perfect getaway - 10/10!
