Back to The Lodge. After a one night stay we would like to have a longer visit. Speedy efficient reception , two signatures and you are in. We were in the detached building with the pool and spa . Balcony gave us excellent views of mist covered loch and mysterious islands. Room was functional but had all we needed , comfy bed, seating area, mini bar , TV & Wi fi. Open plan bathroom with vanity unit forming the bed head. Interesting eco system for the water - shower switches off after 5 minutes - switches back on at the press of a button. Separate WC. Hairdryer for the ladies or trendy gents. Good selection of tea/coffee/biscuits. Milk in mini cartons - you can't have everything. But if you do want everything there is room service. Very quiet at night. Balconies are conjoining - pray for good neighbours- ours were fine. We didn't dine, having been at an earlier function but took advantage of the lounge bar. Comfortable, atmospheric, subdued lighting and music, excellent views while still light. perfect for relaxing. Pint of beer was £4.50p and spirit with dash of lemonade was £4.60p - you are not in a high street pub so expect to pay. Cheery bar staff took cash with no problems and delivered a cocktail within 5 minutes. No complaints whatsoever. The dining area looked superb with candle lit tables and menu prices were very reasonable. We did not experience the restaurant staff but I noted that the duty manager was very attentive , delivering menus, ushering guests to tables etc. and I didn't hear anyone complaining that they had a long wait. Good breakfast , buffet style, full Scottish or continental. Fair choice but if I had a gripe at all it would be that some of the cooked items toughen up while they are in the buffet warmers. Get there early and I think it would be a different story. Chef will cook some items to order, including eggs as you like them. Although breakfast was included I think there was an extra charge for the freshly cooked items such as fish (your choice of eggs was free). Having said that there a plenty to satisfy the biggest appetite and nobody counted our sausages. Breakfast staff were pleasant, provided tea or coffee and cleared tables quietly and efficiently. Check out by 10am and it was painless with no queues when we left. There is a very short walk to Luss village along the beach at the back of the Lodge and it is well worth it. In summary an excellent stay enhanced by the views. Great base for Loch Lomond and surrounding district.

Room Tip: Anything with a view of Loch Lomond. Some rooms adjoin function suites- may be worth confirming that your room is not next to or below a planned function if you like a quiet room.

Enjoyed a pleasant weekend stay with welcoming and really friendly staff, nice spacious dining area and well prepared, reasonably priced tasty food. Bedroom was overall generally good with large comfortable bed and quality bathroom. Only flaw was the (once popular, now very tired) varnished pine cladding finish.....absolutely everywhere ! The post-construction addition of TV/IT equipment was extremely obvious, looking at the white clutter of unconcealed, miscellaneous plastic boxes.
Sadly our restricted view of bonny Loch Lomond was marred by the accumulation of soggy cigarette butts carelessly tossed onto the roof slopes and gutters by previous guests.

Thank you for taking the time to place your review on Trip Advisor and I was so pleased to read that you had an enjoyable weekend with us. In regard to the pine cladding you must remember this is a lodge and a concept property and unlike the multitudes of branded and chain hotels and 99% of our guests enjoy the feel of the Lodge.Thank you for pointing out the mess on the roof and would apologise for that.I look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Kind regards
Nigel

Arrived at the hotel and the first impression was how pleasant the reception staff was. This was continued throughout our stay by the rest of the staff. We were delighted to be allocated the Carter Suite with its separate lounge, sauna, bathroom, lovely bedroom and large balcony with the view over the Loch to the mountains beyond. I used the swimming pool and jacuzzi (found the temperature in the pool fine but the jacuzzi was cold). The bar was very pleasant and the breakfasts were good. The wedding reception was held in a separate building next to the main one. It had a lovely view over the Loch. The meal served was good. A couple of points to be made on the reception. First we were disappointed that a sound check hadn't been made and as a consequence the speakers at the back of the room were not working and we were unable to hear the speeches. Secondly it was a bit of a trek to the toilets which were not on the same floor as the banqueting hall.

Room Tip: Try and get a room in the main block where the rooms are directly next to the Loch and its views. The view from the other building, although nice, overlooks the carpark with the loch beyond it.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Lodge(for the fourth time!!), the staff were superb and very professional, especially Eilidh(this girl has potential!) and Charlotte to name but a few, our room was excellent(Corbett room) with excellent views and facilities, the food was excellent and the swimming pool was superb!! We will definitely return to the Lodge and recommend it to all our friends. In our opinion the Lodge should have 5 Stars!! Thanks to all the staff at the Lodge for making our stay happy and memorable. Looking forward to the next time!!
from Mr and Mrs Telford (room 32)

Room Tip: Go for a Corbett room upstairs because you get such a panoramic view of Loch Lomond!!
