“Excellent weekend break”
Reviewed 7 February 2010

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights on our wedding anniversary in January 2010. Having read the reports we were in two minds to go, we are glad we did!!!
Yes, its may look a bit tired, especially reception, but it is a wooden lodge so not decorated in the new beige and brown colours as is the trend at the moment. They are building a new wedding suite but this did not interfere with us apart from having to use the back stairs. We were in a Graham twin room as we only booked the night before on line with the hotel, but got an excellent deal. The room overlooked the loch, you could throw a stone into the loch if you wanted to from the bedroom window. We had some fantastic sunrises and sunsets, see the pictures. The room had every thing we needed, the bathroom had been totally modernized with a bath and separate corner shower.
The food was excellent as were the staff, nothing was too much trouble. You are allocated a time for the evening dinner when you arrive, we changed times on two nights without any problem. Drinks from the bar and the afternoon tea of scones and jam were not overpriced. The new leisure facilities are excellent, we had the pool to ourselves on two evenings. To sum up a homely, friendly hotel, we would go back again

We stayed here for a weekend away in the autumn. What a fantastic place. We were in the Munro part of the hotel which was just gorgeous, private sauna in the room, massive bed, beautiful views. The Spa also comes very highly recommended, definitely one of the best I have ever been to. Food was fantastic, although the restaurant is looking less modern than the rest of the hotel, we couldn't fault the food or the service. Didn't want to leave and we will definitely be going back!

We stayed in a Corbett room for two nights and wished it could have been longer. Some of the reviews had made us a little apprehensive particularly those regarding housekeeping and 'tiredness' - we saw nothing that concerned us and we are frequent hotel users and critical as regards cleanliness. The view from the balcony was stunning particularly at sunrise. The sauna proved to be an excellent facility. The reception bar and restaurant staff were very pleasant welcoming and efficient. Food was better than we hoped for and probably some of the best we have ever had.Overall a lovely experience and one we will not forget. Having a hire car the hotel proved to be an excellent base to explore Glencoe Oban Invererary etc.

We stayed in one of the Corbett rooms at the Lodge on the Loch and I have to say we were not disappointed, the views over the loch are beautiful. There was a balcony which given the time of year we could not make use of but on a summer evening would be fab. The only minor thing I noticed in the rooms was that the toilet/bathroom/sauna is not finished off perfectly. By this I mean there is a bit of a DIY look, particularly in the toilet. I presume this has come from the conversion to make the bathroom more open. (BTW from reading other reviews you might think the bath is IN the room but it is not.) This is only cosemtic and did not impant on our stay. We were dinner bed and breakfast and the food was superb on both nights. The service within the hotel was also to a very high standard and friendly. The overall atmosphere is homely and cosy and we will return, hopefully in the near future.

Well worth a try!! We had a wonderful time. Esure you book dinner, bed &breakfast as the food is loely and also the hotel is in the middle of nowhere (as you would expect). Staff were good and the views over the Loch are simply the best!! Especially at daybreak. I would suggest that you upgrade to the rooms with a sauna, as the experience of stepping out of your personal sauna into our room is divine.

Stayed here with my wife for 5 nights, getting an excellent package for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast.
The location is stunning as is the surrounding area.
The hotel itself is clean, comfortable and all in all very nice.
Ok so its a little tired in places and could do with a lick of paint or varnish here and there, but in general, the place was excellent.
The menu didnt really change during the week, only a choice of 4 starters and mains, but they were happy ebough to cook my wife a different fish option after night 2, I could have happily eaten the steak every night!!
I would highly recommend this hotel, just dont go there expecting an absolute top quality 5 star hotel and you will be very happy with your choice

We stayed 2 years ago, the lodge had a tranquil homely feel and was just perfect then. It's still a lovely place, the staff are great, the location and views wonderful, excellent food and wine, but one things lets this place down and that's housekeeping.

We stayed for 5 nights, and our bed was changed once, our room wasn't cleaned the whole time we were there, the same leaves on the floor and marks on the glass table were there for our whole stay, in fact I had to ask for our bathroom to be swept, as there was broken glass on the floor for 2 days. Maintenenance isn't much better, little things like unpainted doors, cross marks on the ceiling and a general scruffyness ruin the other good points of the hotel.
