3 nights over new year. we were told there would be a piper- no show
we were invited to join in the party disco and shared in the supper provided- ordinary frozen selection with sandwiches but provided gratis.
staff friendly but not necessarily competent
room was @ the back with its own fire escape which magnified the sound of the cellar fan from below and the radiator noise was constant.
very tiny shower though effort had been made to update the ensuite, difficult in a very old place.
management cooked us a meal on last night because they hadn't informed us the bar and restaurant were closing early. disappointing
check your bill is as quoted. we were over charged on breakfasts and the girl dealing was surly in her handling of the matter

Room Tip: don't accept back rooms as these will get the noise from the bar/ restaurant (unless you are in...

We stayed at the Ardencaple Hotel over a weekend on a room only basis due to attending a friend's wedding on the Saturday. The hotel is basic with beautiful views (if you get a room to the front). The staff seemed friendly enough but seemed under a bit of pressure and could not print off our booking in administration form. The room was clean (enough). The bed linen and towels were clean but the carpets needed a good hoover and the furniture a good polish. The hallways and reception also needed a good clean and there was a general smell about the place of stale cooking with the smell of breakfast and bar meals wafting into our room which meant our window was open most of the time to let in some fresh air. However the road noise meant we had to close it at night. Would we stay here again....sorry no.

Room Tip: Front of hotel has lovely views even although the road can be noisy.

I was booked into Ardencaple hotel by another hotel, which was undergoing some work at the time I had booked.

Brigitte in reception was excellent, as was the breakfast and location.

In my room at the back you could just hear an ongoing party, which finished at midnight. But, I felt sorry for those in rooms at the front or above. They must have suffered!

We had a great stay, food was fantastic and well priced. Bravo to the Chef. The rooms were clean and tidy. Thank you to all the Staff who made us very welcome and couldn't do enough to ensure we had a good stay. We could be returning in May 14 and will definitely be booking into here again.
Thank you Ian & Spud (RN).

Arrived for a one night stay en route from the Highlands to Edinburgh. Welcomed by lovely, friendly, helpful staff. Room basic. Could do with updating. However it was clean and warm. Bar very busy but could hear no noise in the room. Ate out in town. Loved the local area. Brigitte was very helpful and sorted us out to stay an extra night. Explored the Lochs and surrounding area. Stunning. On second night ate in the bar. Very good value pub grub. Friendly staff who are exceptionally helpful. All in all a very good value, pleasant stay.

My husband and I were on a 3 week vacation from the U.S without any set schedule. As we were heading north through Scotland and the day was getting late we found ourselves in the town of Rhu. We were able to get accommodations at Ardencaple Hotel much to our relief. What impressed me most of all was the wonderful staff. The woman on the desk was more than helpful. She went the extra mile. I had lost my adapter somewhere along the line which meant I couldn't charge my phone which was my primary source for photos. The woman on the desk went through all of the lost items which had not been reclaimed and found an adapter for me. I was so ecstatic that she took the time to look whereas she could easily have not bothered. The rooms were clean and comfortable and a much needed respite after a long day of traveling.

We stayed for 1 night only while on a short trip.
Our room was basic but had a lovely view.
Bar was busy with food also served, food ok but nothing special just normal pub grub.
Room basic but ok,The window though was filthy and could do with a good clean? you could not help but notice this because every time you admired the view you were looking through dirt. I know its not much, but such a simple task as a wipe with a cloth would have made all the difference.
The staff were all pleasant and helpful.
Breakfast was charged for separately and for the price was a little disappointing.
Overall it was only for 1 night and was ok, If a bit overpriced.
