We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel,,never been with this company before so didnt know what to expect. We were a bit dissappointed that we had to change coaches at a sevice station on the M6 motorway, not being informed of this procedure,so not expecting it.The hotel itself was very clean and tidy, and all the staff very helpful. The meals were very good only as stated in other reviews a bit quick between courses, your plate was whisked away quite quickly. Also if you were going on a trip the breakfeast was at 8-45 and the coach left at 9-45 not enough time for the food to digest, toilet, clean teeth etc.but the service was excellant, and any small request was delt with in a polite manner. The 2 trips we took were very good and the Stirling city tour guide was excellant. The only other complaint is the moving back 4 seats every differant trip,,ok it gives everybody a differant seat but if you are prone to travel sickness a back seat is a no no. All in all I would say it was very good value for money, and would go again with this company.

Went on Highland Heritage Turkey and TInsel Tour. We have been with this company before but not on T&T It was ok but Im sorry to say didnt match up to their competitors T&T. Just little things like the christmas decorations the table settings, entertainment, atmosphere. Just not as good. On the day trips you travelled too long for a short stay in the destinations. I think this was mainly to keep you out of the hotel during the day. There certainly was no heating on then. On 1 occassion when we were out the bus broke down and we had a wait of 3 Hours before they managed to send another bus for us. During this time most of the passengers went across to the ROB ROY pub in Stirling. It is just a normal local pub but the landlady AVRIL made it something special for us. She made tea and sandwiches for everyone and didnt charge them a penny. She showed us great hospitality and kidness even although most of us were ENGLISH Where does the idea come from that the Scottish are tight. Well done Avril You restored my faith in the christmas spirit. Not forgetting Billy who did the waiter service even though I think he may have been a little tipsy. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all at the ROB ROY and as for Highland Heritage I would travel with you again but not on T&T

We had a lovely time with Highland Heritage and had stayed some years ago at the Dalmally hotel, this time we were going to the Ben Doran.

The Staff are brilliant, the Coach driver whitty but the hotel is tired looking but run very very well, food was piping hot, but serving was swift, no time between courses to chat etc. The coach is comfortable and you use sanitzer before boarding and the same witht the hotel, before entering and before meals you sanitze. The staff all line up to greet you morning and evening. We had turkey and tinsel trip and the staff joined in the carol singing, the trip is for olides, but dont be put off , they know how to have a good time.

The only niggle i have is the offer of tea and scones, the brochure read as if everyday you had them waiting for afternoon tea, yes you did, but, you paid for them having ordered the day before. The cost was £2 pp. this was a bit rich for us and not many took up the offer.

The trips out were wonderful and we saw some wonderful countryside and the scenery was beautiful, however, did feel that the trip to the museums in glasgow were not the best at the end of a two and half hour coach jrny to get there we only had two hours there and with the transport museum or the kenville(i think thats right name) we only stayed at the transport one, felt we would rather have quality time rather than quantity time.

We would be more than likely to return to the highlands again but not for sometime the journey does take its toll, but the coach does stop every two hours for comfort stops or STP, SMOKE TEA AND PEE.

Room Tip: We were in room two on ground floor and overlooked a small garden with a pond, beautiful

Ignore the moans of some other clients. Depending upon your pick up area it can be a long journey to this area of Scotland, but with fantastic scenery on the way. Yes, the guests are mainly 'seniors' but from my experience as an under 60 they do know how to enjoy themselves. This is our second visit to the Ben Doran Hotel. Comfortable coach and good driver. Warm welcome at the hotel. Clean and warm room, not large but certainly adequade. Food excellent, good service (if a little fast), friendly and pleasant staff. Three included full day excursions and one optional extra. Entertainment each evening, all enjoyable. Beautiful gardens and plants throughout the hotel. We will certainly select another tour in the future and perhaps try one of Highland Heritages other hotels.

To be fair, the majority of guests staying at the Ben Doran will be a) coming as part of a coach party and b) probably be of a `certain age` i.e. retired.
When I stayed there I was on a coach trip of mostly retired people, but am definately below retirement age myself! Everyone on the trip thought the hotel was marvellous, and many of them were making a return visit.

The hotel is set in a picturesque setting in the (very) small village of Tyndrum - blink and you'd miss it as you travel along the road.
We were greeted by Morgan the manager when we arrived, and our luggage was unobtrusively taken to our rooms by the ever efficient staff. The staff seemed to be made up of young European people, who were generally very good at their jobs - but it would have been nice to hear a few more Scottish accents in a Scottish hotel!

My room was clean, but would have benefitted from a little sprucing up - it just seemed a little `tired`. One disappointment was the very old and eccentric television set which constantly needed retuning to get a watchable picture, and although it seemed to be receiving a digital signal, the features could not be used from the remote control (which was definately not digital).

The bathroom was spacious enough, and we were never short of plentiful hot water for baths (couldn't take a shower, as although there was a shower fitting there was nowhere to attach it to the wall, and so could only be used hand-held).
I thought it was a very nice touch that when we arrived back from our coach trips, not only had the beds been made, but my nightwear had been neatly folded, and placed under my pillow!
The hotel seems to be kept very warm at all times (possibly a preference of the age range of many of the clientelle?) and I often had to turn the heaters off for a comfortable nights sleep.
There was usually only one sitting for meals - however the food was very good. A different menu each night with three courses and three options for each course. Guests are greeted by the staff as they enter - a nice touch. Again service was very efficient - and the order in which tables were served was changed around each day, which was also a thoughtful touch.
To be really picky - some of the furniture in there was starting to look a little shabby, but it was comfortable enough.

In the unlikely event that the food was not to taste, the Real Food Cafe just outside the hotel grounds serves up lovely grub - locally sourced, and mostly prepared on the premises.

There was entertainment provided each night in the lounge - mainly of a sing-along / to-dance-to style. Again, the majority loved it. I didn't, so headed to Paddy's Bar across the road - however, the hotel bar was noticably cheaper!

All in all, this was a very good value hotel. Most of it's clients return to it again and again, and I'd be more than happy to do so.

Room Tip: In it's location, most rooms have very good views of the countryside.

Just come back from a 8 day Break with Highland Heritage our 1st time I might add.First impression on Arrival was Great nice looking Building, Foyer good but the smallest Reception Room I have ever come accross . Rooms clean and commfy nice and warm Tea making facilities but when it came to the Bathroom a bit of a let down Shower was from the Taps no means of holding it up to get a proper Shower ok to wash Hair but thats it also the lack of a Curtain or Screen so everything got Drenched .The Food was Good a bit to much Veg at times but overall ok Staff at times were a little bit to quick to take away your plates when you were still eating if you are a slow eater but after a word with Management this was soon sorted . Staff all greet you when you enter the DiningRoom a nice touch I thought . All the trips we went on were Great All Good Value only negative side you are Isolated some what. You dont go to Scotland for the Weather Beautiful Country. Every one of the Staff were Brilliant in all a Very Pleasent Stay

Room Tip: Ask for a Decent Shower
