Stopped off here before and after our holiday at Loch Ness. It’s been redecorated since our last visit some years ago, and looks great.
We stop here because of the gluten-free fish and chips, but all the food was tasty and comes in good portion sizes.
The staff were very friendly, and the ordering system works well. Recommended!

We stop here once in a while and the food is always good. The fish was fresh, batter light and crisp and the chips near perfect. The chap on the till is always helpful and friendly. I would agree with other posters about the price though. It's very steep for basic fish and chips. We paid just over £30 for two adult fish and chips ( no drinks) and two kids meals ( these included a free drink and small rice crispy cake). We would stop more often if the prices were a little more reasonable. We also had to sit outside as some of the indoor seating area was cordoned off. The new extension looks great though.

Visited for the first time today. Loved the coffee and the lucky dip bags of small tray bake bites - ideal for sharing. Jack the border collie was made very welcome too. Really good atmosphere, wll be back for chips !

Went in to find a cafeteria style set up with restaurant prices. Over priced for what was on offer. Read the limited menu and walked out.

Taking all reviews seriously and avoiding defensive responses, can be challenging... here goes!

‘CAFETERIA STYLE’ Hmmmm!
Each meal is cooked to order using freshly prepared ingredients. A nicely varied indoor seating area designed to meet all tastes, comprising high benches and stools (hugely popular with large groups) and a newly built extension whose ‘shabby-chic’ interior design has attracted a praise and admiration from regular and first-time visitors. Friendly team-members delivering your meal to you at your table, making sure you have everything you need… apparently a new Oxford English Dictionary definition of ‘cafeteria’!

‘OVER-PRICED’ and ‘LIMITED MENU’
What a pity she did not sample any of our fresh soups, delicious salads, locally sourced burgers, award-winning fresh home baking and the best fish & chips the UK has to offer. Our success in offering a wide range of gluten-free menu items also appears to have been overlooked in her haste to exit the café presumably before being spotted in a ‘cafeteria’ of this nature…. Oooops! Was that defensive or simply ironic?

I guess we all have our own ideas. We have learned that we cannot satisfy everyone. Our vision was to create a friendly travel-stop that satisfies a wide range of dietary requirements and conditions (coeliac-friendly food, for instance). To provide wholesome, freshly-cooked food, using locally sourced produce wherever possible. And to avoid using mixes and unnecessary additives. Our customers are hungry walkers, climbers, cyclists and travellers who are mainly stopping for something healthy and substantial. Fortunately very few of them seem to feel the need to take an ill-educated swipe at the business without at least sampling the product!

We are proud of the food we serve.
We are proud of our team and the environment we have created.
And we are VERY proud to enjoy the company of some amazing and discerning customers, from all around the world.
I hope the reviewer is as proud of the potential impact her reviews can have on unsuspecting establishments she may stumble into and rapidly back out of!

Whilst recognising that our general ‘set-up’ does not suit all tastes, we appear to satisfy the expectations of most of the 100,000+ travellers who visit and eat with us every year. Perhaps next time you’ll take a few minutes to sample the food before condemning the efforts of an honest business-owner and team who work hard to provide a magnificent service in a remote location… who knows, you may even enjoy it!

So let’s see, did I succeed?
Defensive? Probably! 
A little rude and full of irony? Certainly! 
Was it satisfying to get it out on behalf of Sarah and the team…? Yup!!!

And brrrreeeeath….“Ahhhhhhhhhhh” That’s better! 

We stopped for lunch and had snack sized haddock with chips. Really fresh, perfect batter and chips nice. Can't ask for more really. Mushy peas and tartar sauce finished it off nicely. Would definitely return when next in area.
