“So well looked after!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

I visited the house with 15 (mostly elderly, some frail and one blind with assistance dog) other people. We arrived before the house was actually open, but they very kindly opened specially for us and welcomed us so warmly - always making sure that every member of the party were well looked after, safe and comfortable,

The house has a fascinating history, and the attention to detail given to every room is really, really good. Much thought has been given to making the tour really interactive, and this really works.

The guides were knowledgable, interesting and really friendly.

Thank you SO much for making this such a memorable day for many people who are unable to get out often. We all have a great day, and will be talking about Gunsgreen House for a long time!

I'll be back soon with my 6 year old - as there is so much that she too would just love!

“Fascinating exhibition in a beautiful house.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

Gunsgreen House has a wonderful situation overlooking Eyemouth Harbour. A lot of money has been spent turning it into a first rate historical attraction. The presentation of the history of the building and its place in local smuggling is fascinating and very inventively presented. We certainly learned a lot! The house itself, is very attractively returned to its former glory and has beautiful views and a wonderful atmosphere.Nice touch is the contemporary books in each room for visitors to read. The young lady in charge was very helpful and her enthusiasm for the place was very clear and infectious. If you're in Eyemouth don't miss it, if you're anywhere near Eyemouth, make sure you turn off and visit, you'll love it!

“Great history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2014

My favourite museum in Eyemouth, it's got a little more to it than the other 2.

You enter at the cellar and learn about the smuggling history, that's full of atmosphere. You then go up into the main house and the fairly modern uses before going upstairs to the first floor where it' sback to the smuggling history.

Look out for all the fake wall panels revealing secrets, and the secret tea chutes - both the original and functional ones!

I feel entry price is a little steep for what's there, you're expected to pay again to gain entry to the top floor of the house.

Worth a visit if you're in the area though.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit and that you discovered the secrets! There is an additional charge of £1 per adult, or £2 on a family ticket to see the top two floors. These floors are rented out as holiday accommodation and tours are only available when it is not in use, which is why there is an additional fee. Thanks again, and we hope to see you again in the futre. Best wishes.
