“Quaint hotel”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Quaint and comfortable hotel in conveniently located in the Scottish Borders. We stayed here with a group of 10, and the hotel staff were very accommodating of us, even serving us our meals together in a back room perfectly suited to our size. The beds were comfortable; the staff was very helpful; the facilities were nice and clean; but my favorite part of this hotel was the breakfast. Of the six places we stayed on this journey around Scotland, this was probably my favorite breakfast spot. I highly recommend the poached eggs with smoked salmon!

Had a superior room. King sized bed, good size room. Decor is dated, not just in the room but all over the hotel. Room was fairly clean if a bit dusty. Wifi struggled to reach my room. (Room 7). When I enquired staff were very unhelpful. Tv remote had the cover missing so batteries kept falling out- so frustrating.
Staff were unwelcomming. They made us feel like we were a nuisance to them.
There is no way this should be a 4* hotel. I've stayed in far better 3*.
I have to say though, the breakfast was fantastic.

Excellent stay, clean rooms, well looked after by very attentive staff, food excellent, very good breakfast, this hotel is very centrally placed for all surrounding towns and attractions, of which there are many. I would stay here again.

Nice room but a bit noisy as we were facing the main road (A68). It soon quietened down though in the evening. Dogs made very welcome. Breakfast in the bistro was fantastic. Great friendly service from all staff.

Stayed overnight and had dinner in the bar. Dinner was good and service was quick. Waiting staff at dinner were friendly. The room was a single and adequate for one night. Furniture a bit of a mix and not sure any of it works together. Quite a bit of dust. There wasn't a hair dryer in the room but one was provided after requesting again in the morning. The shower even at a full heat was cold. Advised receptionist at check out. The breakfast room is lovely but service was as a previous comment made a bit lacking in enthusiasm. I had the eggs benedict but it was smothered to the point of swimming in hollandaise far too much. I only ate a small amount yet wasn't asked if there was something wrong with it. Noticed that requests for toast only provided with one slice have never seen this before usually always 2! The coffee was lovely. Would stay again as it is convenient and it will be lovely once the entrance is completed.

We stayed for 3 nights at the inn. We had a lovely double room overlooking the beer garden. The room was clean, modern and well kitted out with the usual facilities you would want. The food is really good. We ate in the bistro and the portions are very generous. This is the type of place you where you can see the staff are bending over backwards to ensure you are having a good stay. The bar is really nice and offers some great ales, beers and cocktails. We shall certainly stay here again. Be prepared to go on a diet after you have eaten here! Great place.
