“Good service average food”

Dropped in on off chance, lucky to find table on Fathers' day! The service was very good and quick, starters were excellent, unfortunately the mains weren't. They have a Scottish Beef award, roast should have been a safe bet. Style over substance, a large 3" cube of very tough fatty beef, next to a better "normal" slice. Yorkshire pudding absolutely cremated on top, such a shame, and waiter didn't seem interested in our opinion. Certainly is a dog friendly place though, if you don't want them walking around you, go somewhere else. Great shame, close but not good enough!

“Late Evening Supper”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

I booked this as a table of 4 as we were in the area for another drinks engagement/ house party. We were not disappointed.
I'd booked for 9pm and on arrival we were taken to our table straight away. Drinks order taken and we perused the menu. Plenty choice but as this was a late sitting a few items had sold out as you'd expect for a sat night, as all other tables were taken in the bistro.
We had no starters but I ordered sirloin with bernaise sauce average, but steak excellent....it came with chips(plentiful) as gave 3/4 of the helping gave to my husband. Green salad plentiful but lacking a little in possible cucumber, onions or avocado, green peppers? My husband had loin of pork(looked superb) as did our guests. The other dish was salmon a sad very small portion in comparison to the steak & pork dishes. We only had a main course.
We did not have any wine but individual drinks that were well served in nice glasses.
We will return if passing or in the area.

“A bit confusing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

We have a dog - a lot of places don't cater for dog owners at all. This does - you can bring them into the bar, or the garden.

But for some reason they are not awfully keen in serving food outdoors. Not sure why, nice garden, very peaceful.

We were right next to the Blue Coo bistrot but couldn't have any of their menu only from the bar menu. What we really wanted was on the bistrot menu and given it is all from the same kitchen, seemed a bit pedantic.

We only had a couple of starters, the thai fish cakes were home made and tasty and very much a starter portion, the nachos were good.

Definitely give it another try but found it a bit confusing why if you wanted mushrooms on brioche or beef carpacio outdoors you couldn't have it?

Answers on a postcard please....

“Great food but customer service needs work”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

Just enjoyed a lovely lunch in the Blue Coo today and cannot fault the food at all. Delicious and very well cooked.
I felt our waitress was a little short and not that polite, not just with us but with other customers too. She was never outright rude but did her job with the bare minimum of pleasantries and seemed stressed out although it wasnt busy.
Please dont let the great food and lovely decor etc be ruined by average staff!
