“Lovely meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2014 via mobile

Came here with my parents for my dad's birthday. Food and service were both good but not excellent. The conservatory out the back is quite nice, the bar area got very busy. We all enjoyed our seafood dishes and my dad's lamb shank was also good.
Sat out the front and watched the sun set over the harbour and finished our drinks. All in all a pleasant evening, good food, to be recommended.

“Poor quality pub grub”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

Visit as part of week long holiday in Portpatrick-ordered fish and chips, plough mans lunch and beef burgers. fish was tasteless and obviously frozen, plough mans was 3/4 lettuce and little else and burgers were cheap frozen and very average. Total waste of money. WILL NOT RETURN.

“Good but not the best in Portpatrick”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

The food was good but steaks and lobster were all just slightly overcooked. Not enough to send the food back but medium rare was more like medium. Other little things got missed like Cullen Skink with crusty bread did not appear with the crusty bread and salty bacon overpowered the scallops.

“Seafood platter a must.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

Dined here with the family at the weekend.
The pub was very busy with the outside tables taken by diners.
We just ordered main courses that arrived in under 15 minutes.
Liver,Scampi and Lasagne all went down well, the highlight being the Lobster,Mussels and Crab claws.
The only downside being you can't run a tab,but this could just be a sign of the times.
Would definitely call again.

“Mixed feelings”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

Away on holiday, called to Portpatrick on the way back from Mull of Galloway, was about 3 but lunch served all day. Menu fine, prices ok.
3 of the party shared a hot fisherman's platter - others had sandwiches.
The food took over an hour to come. No apology or anything.
The platter was fantastic but the sandwiches ordinary and disappointing would give platter 5 and sandwiches 1 - so food score an average of 3 - that though does not do the plafter justice.
Price again platter excellent value - including lobster, mussels and crab but sandwiches expensive at £7.95
Worth a visit if you don't mind a long wait for food.
