Our team is Amelia, Matt, Keith, Maggie, Tina, Jordan, pizza boys Kenny and Alan and we would like to welcome Big Alan our new head chef on board. Alan and Keith will be revising our menu and as well as the old favourites will be incorporating new dishes with weekly changes to our specials board. We now have a deli in the café, offering various cheeses, olives, Stornoway black pudding to name a few, we are now also opening Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings 6.30 pm till 10.30 pm (Last food orders 9.30 pm) with a delicious menu which will change weekly depending on availability of local produce. Our restaurant is fully licensed and we can offer quality wines, prosecco, real ales and lagers. Our pizza service is now up and running and not only can you be served with pizzas in the restaurant, these are now available for take-away from our upstairs counter 5.30 pm till 10.30 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. (Delivery available in Portpatrick area). Enjoy your stay in Portpatrick and we hope you've enjoyed your visit to the Port Pantry. Thanks and haste ye back. From All The Team

“Not my cup of tea”
Reviewed 28 July 2013

After reading a lot of positive reviews of this restaurant, we (me, my wife and three kids) first looked for the Port Pantry when we visited Portpatrick. It was late afternoon (4am), so time for an afternoon tea with some delicious scones (we hoped).
The reception was rather negative, we even asked if they were closing up so we would not disturb them in the process... But we could stay and we selected a pot of tea and five scones.
The scones were quickly thrown on a plate, the china was hastily shovelled on a tray. The table was dirty and the lady of the house reluctantly cleaned it (after asking twice). Two of five cups were dirty, and the scones were the worst we have eaten in our three week stay in the UK (and we tested several).

Furthermore there was an awkward smell in the restaurant, that was really not inviting to stay long.

Too bad we had this negative experience, hopefully for them it was just bad luck for us, but maybe avoid a late afternoon tea in the Port Pantry.

“delicious”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

Food is amazing. It was the best that i have had in the Portpatrick/Stranraer area. You dont even have to wait for long periods of time between each course which is great. But the food is just wow, all homemade and fresh! Service too was great and friendly. I ate that much of my main that when i got the dessert i couldnt even finish it but really really wanted to cause it tasted so good!!
Must return!

Friendly small bistro above gift/coffee shop. Interesting menu, lots of mediterranean influence. Every course was very good and will definitely eat here again.

“A real find”
Reviewed 11 June 2013

We were drawn to this little place by the (very good) smell of food wafting down from the open windows. It happened to be Mexican night when we went and the food was delicious - and plenty of choice. A lovely welcome too. We were lucky to get a table without booking, but will definitely book next time as I'd be gutted to miss out.
