Just return from a fantastic weekend visiting family in scotland. We chose this hotel as its only about 200 yards from where they live and altough it took an hour for us to check in the hotel was very comfortable. It does need updating and the bath room was adequate but does need some work. I would recommend this hotel as it close to all the sight seeing places

I have so many good comments to say about this Hotel, i really don't know where to start. I believe in being honest and giving you all as much helpful information as i can if you are looking to hold your wedding reception/evening do here. Our wedding was on 29/09/2012 and from the moment we arrived until the time we left Ellen the manager and her staff were always on hand to help and to answer any queries we had,not only for my husband and i but also our 58 guests! The bedrooms are a good size with a very large double bed (Of coarse the bridal suite was the best) exceptionally clean, cosy and modern. We had an evening meal on the Thursday & Friday before our wedding, the food was outstanding! On our wedding day i had breakfast in bed which again was delicious. Our wedding breakfast (reception) consisted of soup/prawn cocktail followed by beef/chicken followed by apple crumble. My guests could not comment enough on the high quality of the food, the night do buffet was to die for we had the hot and cold buffet to give our guests the best of both worlds and what a good choice that was. There was way too much food made, all our guests were so full and couldn't eat another thing and believe me that takes some doing! Our day was just perfect, the only thing that was a disaster was being let down by AZTEC DISCO'S!!! We came down at 7.30pm ready to welcome our guests back to enjoy the evening do.....no disco! I immediately went to Ellen she couldn't believe it either, she phoned them straight away and they gave us a very very feeble excuse,to which we still have not had a apology (yet they were quite happy to cash our cheque 2 weeks previous) BIG MISTAKE. Ellen then phoned numerous DJ's and at 8.15pm managed to get hold of one. How helpful and caring she was...''you will have your 1st dance'' she said. Also how good was Neil for being called out at that time of night and giving us a disco at such short notice. We had our first dance and i cried probably the relief..... i really didn't think Ellen would manage to find anyone but she pulled it off,we could not thank her enough. At the end of the night guests were struggling to get taxi's back to alternative accommodation and once again members of bar staff stepped up to the mark and done several trips to take them. Everyone who worked at the hotel on the day of our wedding went above and beyond their call of duty, i really can't praise them enough,i would most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of getting married in Gretna Green, it's just a 10 minute drive from Gretna but well worth it,with it's stunning picturesque views what more could anyone ask for.
So..... to Ellen, hubby, chef and staff a big big thank you from us to you, for giving us a perfect day to remember for the rest of our lives. With Love Jackie & Glyn Bettison. (North Wales)

Me and my wife had our wedding reception / evening here on September 29th 2012 the trip advisor gave it a 4 star but it was easily worth a 5 star, as the venue is located in picturesque settings, the meals were so well prepared. We had a main course of beef and the meat just melted in your mouth and we had 58 guests and they all commented about there meals being great. The staff were so helpfull and nothing was to much trouble for them.at our night due our disco let us down and didn't even turn up (AZTEC DISCOS) but Ellen the manager helped us out and phoned around and got us a disco with just a short notice. As some of our guests struggled to get a taxi back to where they were stopping the bar staff were so kind they even offered to do several trips to take our guests to there digs.I would recommend this venue to anyone who wants a wedding venue to be perfect the venue is 10 miles out of gretna green but it was well worth the extra travel. Many thanks to the staff Glyn and Jackie.
