Stayed here for two nights in June 2006. Friendly welcome and good sized and spotless accommodation. Noticeably a place that people visit repeatedly as was borne out by conversation at breakfast with fellow guests. Definitely recommended. Stranraer is situated quite dramatically and the Dumfries and Galloway (Wigtownshire) area is by-passed by so many when it warrants an extended visit to explore its many beauties.

Stopped over in Stranraer on our way home to Yorkshire from Ireland. Luck for us the Fernlea Hotel had a room left. Lovely decor and immaculatly clean. Young couple very friendly hosts. Plenty of parking. Non-smoking which was a plus for us as my wife has Asthma. Def recommend the Fernlea.

We (my wife and I) stayed at Fernlea. Ferries to Ireland were cancelled due to weather. We arrived in the early evening after a lengthy drive. We were both tired and couldn't really be bothered trying to find somewhere to eat. Our hostess Lynn gave us a couple of menus for take-aways.She even phoned for us...but thats not the best.....she came through with a glass of wine and a bottle of beer for us to have with our meal!!!!!!!! Lynn....you're a star!!!!.The roooms are spacious and immaculately clean. The cooked breakfast was fantastic, really set us up for the day.Car parking at back is another bonus. Will recommend to all family and friends...Thank you so much for making us feel at home.

This was our first trip to Scotland and also our first time staying in a Bed and Breakfast. Our flight from Canada landed early in the morning at Glasgow and we travelled directly to Stranraer by train. Our stay at Fernlea Guest House was on our first night. We were delighted at the personal touch that we received. Nothing was too much trouble for the young couple who owned it. We even got a transfer to the Ferry the next morning. Rooms we immaculate, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was ample on nice warm plates. As this was our first night we then compared all other accommodation to this B & B. Sadly we were never treated as well anywhere else.

So we would thourghly recommend you stay at this lovely Bed and breakfast. Thank you Ken and Lynn.

After much deliberation on the net, we decided to book Fernlea Guest House for our overnite stay in Stranraer before getting the Stena ferry to belfast the next morning.

All we can say is we glad we chose Fernlea. What a lovely home from home. Hosts were young friendly couple, very helpful and informative. We will be recommending the Fernlea to friends and family here in Aus.

Rooms were immaculate with all you need. Thank you Dryfsdale family. Keep up the good work.

June and Ian Burns, Sydney.

Once again Lynn & Kenny provided us with an unforgetable stay. Warm friendly welcome as usual and the rooms were immaculate and warm. I would not hesitate to recommend Fernlea Guest House while the Drysdale family are in residence. Extra effort is made everytime you stay. Thanks again for a great say and we will see you again next year. Love to the kids.
