This hotel is almost a step back in time. They have a very strong emphasis on cleandliness and staff service which could not be faulted. Lovely food in resteraunt and quite reasonable bar/wine prices. While the bedrooms are somewhat dated and the matress on the uncomfortable side of very hard, the hotel is well worth a vist for a traveller, business stop or tourist.

If I am back in Stranraer again I will certainly stay here.

Room was comfortable and reasonable size. Service was prompt and friendly, but the hotel itself felt pretty dated and tired. Food in the hotel restaurant was good though. Probably only for an overnight stop and you pay a premium for this.

I stayed here for one night after getting off the ferry, and it was ok. And that just about sums this place up - ok in most respects. I would say however that staying longer than one or 2 nights may be too much, but for a quick stopover, perfectly acceptable.

Having read the previous reviews im absolutely sure they must be staying at a different hotel or are not used to staying in hotels of varing quality?
Yes there is a pool (open 7.45am to 8pm), yes there is a curling rink (no info) and yes you you do get breakfast included (from 7.15am) but that has to be where the plus points end. Wifi is chargable at this hotel however its ideallealy located for a ferry crossing but I cant believe for £75 a night that this hotel is of such poor quality. The rooms have obviously not seen investment since it first opened and is aimed at coach parties for older residents. The bathrooms are exceptionally poor with a terrible shower and poorly located shower curtain which lets water everywhere. Ive stayed numerous nights over the last month in different rooms and will be booking somewhere else in future even if it involves a longer drive (Port Patrick has been reccomended by a collegue). The rooms are clean but have rough wool blankets and very lumpy pillows. The Breakfast is OK but service is poor and feels very stuffy. I think the hotel feels like its trying to emulate the feeling of being in the Dorchester or Waldorf but fails terribly. If my company allowed me to book a B&B i would have stayed elsewhere. Its the only true hotel in Stranraer and as such means that its the only place to stay for business. One night is more than enough if you need to get a ferry, if you dont mind paying for the convienience of being opposite the terminal.
