“Absolutely Fabulous”

The Chauffer's Apartment at Lochinch Castle has everything for a wonderful stay. The location is extraordinary having access to the Castle Kennedy gardens and much of the estate as well as being centrally located to explore all that Dumfries Galloway has to offer. The apartment is spacious, well appointed and convenient easily accommodating 6 adults. The staff were very helpful and the welcome package very much appreciated, (the sponge was an instant hit). Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

“Idyllic”
Reviewed 17 August 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The photos are not deceptive; the apartment looked exactly as pictured, was exceptionally clean, had everything needed for a comfortable stay. There was an endless supply of wood for the fireplace, the sitting room was cozy and pleasant, and each bedroom offered its own unique charm. The staff at Lochinch castle is top-notch in their preparation and handling of financial affairs; ever courteous and pleasant. The welcome sponge baked by the castle chef was very nice with coffee. The grounds are fantastic in their beauty and variety of species, and one is free to wonder at will. The little room near the entrance to the apartment has bicycles and a pump. Our 9 year old granddaughter delighted in riding off down the pleasant lanes through the trees and fields. Many areas of interest and beauty are within an easy drive. Stranraer offers shopping and necessities five minutes away. Collectively, we could not think of one negative element to our one week stay. We would return in a heartbeat.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay thus far. It is stunning, spacious and I don't have enough nice words for the staff. The customer service has been top knotch. We were even greeted with a homemade cake and wine! The scenery is like something out of a dream you hope you get to have again and again. We highly recommend this flat to anyone considering.

“Fantastic Place”
Reviewed 14 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

This is a real gem of a place and its the second time we have stayed. Situated above the courtyard of Lochinch castle you have a beautiful setting to explore at your own pace. There are acres of Gardens right on your doorstep and even out of season you are free to explore them. Dogs are welcome. The apartment has large comfortable rooms, TV, DVD, 3 bedrooms, all mod cons. It is perfect for a relaxing break. Highly recommended. We will return.

“Beautiful tranquil setting for those who just want to chill out, excellent accommodation, would go again.”
Reviewed 1 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We loved this place from the moment we arrived and would highly recommend it for its beautiful untouched setting. The apartment was warm and welcoming and most comfortable for our party which included six people and two dogs, Karen the housekeeper had left a welcoming pack which was much appreciated by all. There are some lovely place to visit in the local area which are only a short drive away, Port Patrick is a lovely little fishing village whilst Ardwell Bay is a quiet little beach cove area (just be careful when driving down the track as you near the beach - its a little bit rough although not too bad if you are in a 4 x 4). We had a day out at Logan Bay, this is another beach area but on a larger scale, lovely sands and ideal for children or for walking the dogs. Logan Tropical gardens are also worth a visit with picnic areas if taking your own lunch, they do have a nice cafe if you wish to eat in.
All in all, the whole holiday week spent here at Lochinch Castle and the Stranraer area, having been to Scotland many times over the years, this is by far the best holiday we have ever had anywhere in Scotland - this is one of those hidden gems you really want to keep a secret.

The Chauffeur's Apartment is an excellent holiday let with loads of charm and character. It is very comfortable and the staff at the castle are very accommodating. Where else can a family stay at a historic castle for less money than a budget hotel?

On op of that, you have 75 acres of bountiful garden to roam around between two lochs. A dream for nature lovers. We can't recommend this enough.

“Heaven for a week.”

Myself, husband, daughter and two dogs stayed at Lochinch Castle Chauffeurs Apartment 15th-22nd June. The apartment was huge, the beds enourmous and comfortable, the apartment spotlessly clean. A welcome pack of the most SCRUMMY homemade chocolate cake, milk, bread butter, sugar, wine and jam were waiting for us. The gardens of over 75 acres were ours to go wherever we wanted. We were fortunate enough to meet the Earl and Countess of Stair whose home the castle is, and they were most welcoming. How kind to share their lovely home with people. We had the joy of seeing a little roe deer come to our back kitchen window most mornings chewing on leaves for his breakfast, what joy. The birds and wildlife are splendid. The weather was glorious the whole week of our stay, and we rarely wandered from the castle and it's gardens. Just one trip to the delightful seaside town of Portparick on the Thursday. Do visit this place. I would also like to thank Karen the housekeeper for her help in our booking the apartment. We loved it here so much we have already booked again for May next year.
