“Fantastic Fishing Trip”
Reviewed 1 October 2010

Fantastic experience from start to finish, even offered to help take luggage up to our room on the top floor!
Room brilliant, spacious and amazing across Loch Ryan.
Perfectly central, access to free public carpark, restaurants, takeaways and ferry terminal and I suppose for us the Loch and local fishing spots!
Scrumptious breakfast, with lots of choice, comfy bed, the only downside was that we had to come back home...
We will be back!

Thankyou so much for your wonderful comment, we really appreciate it. Next time I hope the weather is better and you won't need the water-proofs!!! Good luck with the wedding plans and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
Thankyou
Rhona

I can only repeat what virtually every other review reads on here and that is that the Harbour Lights B & B was fantastic!

My partner and I stayed here for a week in August 2010 and I was a little apprehensive to say the least but thankfully,I was not disappointed!

Our coach got in at 2am and after travelling 14 hours I was grumpy! Colin, one of the owners, met us at the front door and took all of our bags to our room. He gave us our key, told us what time breakfast would be and left us to it which, after a long trip we were very greatful!

The room was huge! There was only me and my partner and we were given the family room which had 2 double beds so we had one each (would be rude not to!) We also had a fully stocked hospitality tray every day which was greatly appreciated. There was also a flat screen tv with freeview and ample storage space. Everything was spotless and modern..no complaints at all.

Breakfast was the highlight of my day for the whole week and I am now a fan of the full Scottish breakfast! As well as getting a fully cooked breakfast every day (if you wish) there were cereals, fruits, toast, jams, nuts... everything! It really was an all you can eat affair! I also liked the fact that the eggs came from Rhona and Colins own chickens!

Every morning we sat at the table by the window and looked out onto the harbour. We would have a chat with Colinand Rhona, who gave us some great ideas about local places to visit.

If I had 1 teeny tiny negative thing to say it would be that the wi-fi was not always on as it states on the website. However, all we had to do was ask and Rhona and Colin were more than happy to turn it on for us. When it did come on though, the signal was very weak but we found this was the same everywhere so, that couldnt be helped.

Overall we had an amazing time and we will definately be going back again!

We stayed one night here and it was truly a delight. We were stopping at Stranraer to get the Ferry for our honeymoon to Ireland. Although Stranraer is a slightly run down place this guest house was the perfect place to escape and relax. Even more so when you have spent the day travelling.
Our room was immaculate, beautiful, cosy with crisp clean linen and all the home comforts you need to relax. We had a fab nights sleep. Even things such as the lighting and decor were all spot on. I was impressed right down to the small things such as the very thoughtful hospitality tray which had fruit teas(which you don't often find)quality teas and coffee and a selection of biscuits.
In fact we had such an awful stay at a so called four star world class hotel in Dublin (portmarnock) that I wish we had stayed here at the harbour Lights instead to honeymoon!
The owners were very pleasant and congratulated us on our marriage but weren't too overbearing and gave us our peace and quiet which I appreciate. They made a lovely home cooked breakfast which my husband particularly liked and I enjoyed that and the wide selection of other items such as good quality yoghurt.
Also I have to mention that they very much offer value for money as they are very reasonably and competatively priced. We would both absolutely recommend this guest house to anyone.

We were shown to a lovely bright family room with two kingside beds and a great sized bathroom. Although we didn't need them, the room was furnished with a baby chaining table, baby bath and a baby bath seat for the "big bath".
Our son loved sleeping in his "huge bed" while my husband (who is 6'4) enjoyed sleeping in the same size of bed we have at home. We had unusual check in requirements and these were met very easily. Breakfast was great and we all left feeling set up for the day.
Harbour Lights is very central and you can walk to anything you want to do in Stranraer or explore an amazing part of Scotland by car.

Have to recommend this great B&B to anyone with small children. Our spacious family room in this B&B had: moses basket, travel cot, changing table, baby bath, toddler seat for bath, baby/toddler crockery and cutlery at breakfast. Our hosts also provided snacks & juice for the children on the hospitality tray in the room which were much appreciated. The tv in the room had CBeebies (kids channel) which kept my kiddies amused too. Can't praise this B&B highly enough & encourage anyone with young children to stay there.

Stayed at the Harbour lights guest house from September 2008 to January 2010 whilst working on the Stranraer Acamedy building project. Colin and Rhona made us feel like part of the family, nothing was too much trouble.Rooms where kept spotless and breakfasts were first class. Woundn't hesitate to recommend the Harbour lights to anyone. What more can I say Colin and Rhona are the perfect hosts.
