“One of the best”

We had a lovely short stay and having stayed in many B&B's before can say that this is the best so far. Really good size bedroom and comfortable lounge to ourselves. Our hosts could not have been more helpful or done more for us.

Stayed for two nights in Scotland's National Book Town - a place of much interest and many books!

Arduaine was an extremely comfortable and clean B&B. The bedroom was spacious with a large double bed, plenty of wardrobe space, en-suite shower room and all the facilities of a high class hotel - including chocolates on the pillow at night!

Not only that, guests also have use of a seperate (equally spacious) private lounge for reading or watching TV. This is also where the generous breakfasts are served.

Barbara offers a superb choice on the breakfast menu and this includes local produce. We sampled locally produced yogurt as well as filling up on porridge (with sultanas - lovely!) and full Scottish breakfast!

A charming high class B&B which would be more than comfortable for a longer stay.

  • Liked — Spacious bedroom and lounge
  • Disliked — Basin in en-suite too small

This bed and breakfast was the last of many b&b's we visited during our vacation in Scotland, in the last three weeks of september. My husband and I wanted to visit Wigtown for the many bookshops in "Scotland's National Booktown". We ended up staying two nights instead of just one, and wished we could have stayed longer. The owners, Barbara and David made us feel really welcome, and immediately showered us with information about the local sights and attractions. The bedroom was very bright and roomy, had two extra long single beds en was immaculately cleaned. Also we could use a private guestlounge, great for reading our new books. The breakfasts were cooked to perfection and lots to choose from, local produce also. All in all, absolutely the best B&B we stayed in during this vacation! Gorgeous room, fantastic hosts with good local knowledge, in an often overlooked but lovely part of Scotland.

  • Liked — That we had a bedroom and lounge
  • Disliked — Bit hidden away, lucky to find it
