“Good for groups”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2013

If you arrive and there aren't tables available, the bar staff might ask people finishing their meals or drinks to move in approximately 25 minutes so that you can be seated. This request surprised me and my partner and seemed very unfair to the woman sitting alone at the adjoining table who had only just begun her meal after quite a long wait. However the barman needed the two tables for a group of 8 who wanted to sit together. Perhaps better to eat elsewhere in Arisaig if you are a couple or alone.

“Great fish & chips!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2013

We visited on a glorious sunny July afternoon. Had lunch on the decking area. Stunning location. Both myself & husband has fish & chips & it was delicious. Beautiful fresh local fish, light batter, homemade tartare sauce, If there hadn't been other people eating, I would have happily licked my plate! Good kids menu too, daughter cleared her plate, she had chicken goujons which looked homemade using real chicken, not often a feature on kids menu's!!!

“Wanted to give more than three but.....................”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2013

We only had a meal at the Arisaig Hotel, inspired to book by a local saying how keenly the new proprietors had been anticipated and how much the villagers wanted them to do well. And there were things to evidence that they are trying to create something good here. I liked the look of the chidren's playroom for instance and the waitress was lovely and a fund of information about campsites both local and in other parts of Scotland. We were pleased to see tapas available - bit different for these parts. But there were also things we felt they didn't get quite right - on that occasion at least. We had booked for seven but didn't start to eat until 7.40 which is longer than we usually prefer to wait - the restarant was not busy. We were pointed to the Tapas menu - fine for us - but maybe some people would have liked to know what was in the menus on the counter. The menu was based around three dishes and a small wine for £13.95 so we had six different ones which just about worked out balanced - but not a big choice.Really liked the cassoulet and the tiger prawns. Worst of all, we were given cold plates which was disappointing as even the hot tapas soon went cold. Desserts were OK but £6.25 felt quite a lot for the cheesecake which was good but not big and spoilt by the recent icecreams at the Kilcamb and Ardshealac, the obviously mass-produced icecream was just a bit of a letdown. We were offered a glass of sangria but not until we'd finished our tapas, so it felt like an afterthought - presumably the people eating in the bar did better. Finally our bill bore no resemblance to what we'd had - in our favour but we did own up! I really hope that by the time the season is in full swing service can get just a bit more slick. We thought there was a lot of potential to make this the real focal point for the village that it should be.
