“Lovely staff, pleasant rooms.”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Bit disappointed on turning up to The Arisaig Hotel because it is rather tired looking to the outside, the left hand part is a pub and looks shoe-horned into the slope. Reception was very tired looking too but when Penny showed me into the Hotel itself I was pleasantly surprised. The Hotel part looks as though it would have been an old Manse at one time with period features and a very pretty dining room. Our rooms were very pleasant and clean and I had a sea glimpse! Sadly, the weather was pretty awful during our stay so I never got full benefit of the pretty coastline view.
The "restaurant" is actually in the pub part of the building and is just a "cosy" bar, nothing notable about the decor! I had chicken liver pate and oatcakes but in truth, I think the pate had probably been defrosted as it was a bit watery. The food choice was good though and prices very reasonable.
Breakfast next morning was excellent made especially entertaining by Lucia out waitress, with her dry sense of humour.

This is a really attractive small hotel in a truly lovely setting. The little seafront and village is very pretty with wonderful hills around and stunning views to the small isles. The hotel is very smart and clean and the staff delightful. I had an excellent single beautifully kitted out and looking very new. I had a lovely view too. It is a little more expensive that I usually pay on a multiple centre trip but I enjoyed it very much. It is a very comfortable traditional dining room for breakfast. The breakfast is excellent although not too sure about the use of packaged individual cereals as they tend to be the more sugary type.

There is an excellent bar/restaurant attached so you needn't go far for an evening meal either. There is also another place to eat in the village. The only down thing was the modern TV did not work well (don't expect loads of channels as they are not possible in this part of the world!). as I could get the volume or channels to change very easily -not sure if the remote was working properly or not. They did try to improve the volume which got a bit better. I could not get the subtitles to work either.

This is an excellent if slightly more expensive hotel to use for exploring this wonderful area with the Small Isles and Skye as well.

Rooms were basic but adequate and clean. Dining room was fine and we ate dinner and breakfast both of which were very good. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, all in all we had a pleasant stay. Free wi-fi was available.

I had 3 nights at this hotel. My room was off an excellent standard with top quality linen. The view out over the water was outstanding. Although wifi is restricted to within 10 metres of reception there is a lovely lounge with comfortable sofas and a fire place with ample light from an elegant Bay window where you can sit and relax while on the Internet . Lunch and dinner are served in the bar.. There is a public and lounge bar option.. and being family friendly there is even a play room that is well equipped for younger guests. I can certainly recommend the haddock. It was so good I had it 2 nights in a row. Located in the heart of the village the diary is readily accessible for little extras.

Pleasant staff but in my opinion it is expensive. We paid £130 for a double ‘superior’ room which was a reasonably normal sized hotel room and had a good front view. The reason that some might chose to stay here is I suppose for a good view however this is not guaranteed as our friends had an unacceptably small room with a small window looking out onto a fire escape. Their room became hot at night requiring not only opening of the windows but also the door and the fire-escape door in the narrow hallway. This room was £110 per night B&B. Upon finding that their bathroom was flooded with water from above, resulted in not the offer of another room, as understandably none was available, nor the offer of a reduction in their £110 bill; but did result in the offer of more towels to dry the floor up.
The hotel did appear very clean and the linen appeared spotless. On the morning of departure there was fresh linen and towels laid on the carpet outside the doors, ready to service the room for the next occupants. These occupants would have been unaware, as we were, that it was normal procedure to lay bed linen on the carpet that feet and dogs have just trod upon.
The hotel website informs us that there was WIFI ‘throughout the hotel.’ Upon arrival we were informed that this was incorrect. WIFI can only be received within 10 yards or so of the reception desk.
The bar did ‘not have very much ice’ when asked at 4.30 in the afternoon.
It should be noted that breakfast is between 8.00 and 9.00. Even on a Sunday morning.
On the plus side the breakfast table was well set and the waitress coped well and was very helpful. She quickly sorted out cold mushrooms and raw poached eggs. The kippers were fantastic.
The above are correct observations that I would think guests would wish to know about if visiting this area.

We booked the Arisaig Hotel with some limited knowledge after reading a few reviews. We knew it was updated and the food was rated good. But were very surprised just how nice
the room was and how great the view. A upstairs harbor view was just wonderful. I really was pleased about the scenic beauty of the view. Constantly changing scenes and tides. Location is great as you can walk to everything in the village.

Room Tip: Pick a harbor view room.

We've just returned from our Wedding at Camusdarach and I would like to Thank the Arisaig Hotel staff for making our friends and family feel so at home during our stay. We had 7 rooms booked in the Hotel and have nothing but praise for the accommodation and staff. So much so we stayed an extra night.
Our original booking was a standard room which was upgraded when it became available as we'd requested on the booking.com website. Off to a good start :)
The receptionist when we arrived was a woman called Penny who I'd spoken too previously on the phone. Penny seemed to be around at all hours and nothing was ever a bother.
We had a meal booked for 25 on the night before the wedding and the member of staff we had was friendly and accommodating.
The room we had was huge with a beautiful view out to the bay. We had two large dogs with us and the space was ideal. The bed was enormous!
Breakfast in the mornings was served by the same woman each day who did a fantastic job no matter how busy the tables were. The room felt very relaxed and breakfast itself was hearty.
The crofters bar was well used and again the staff were friendly and accommodating. Penny's husband has a wicked sense of humour and the patience of a saint.
Final thanks goes to Fiona who called and told us we had left a basket of items at reception!
The location of the Hotel is ideal for exploring the surrounding area which is stunning and loaded with various activities. I expect that we'll be back at some point in the future, maybe our anniversary?
Thank you Arisaig Hotel for making our wedding a relaxed and happy experience.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have a beautiful view of the bay.
