Fantastic value for a wonderfully quaint, off the beaten path hotel. Would highly recommend this place for anyone traveling in the Highlands. We went after touring Loch Ness and couldn't have been happier with it! Can't wait to go back!

Man, I wish there hadn't been three of us--I really wanted to use that tub. It's one of those long and deep ones with the faucets in the middle that you could soak in for hours. Alas, my travel-mates were wanting to also use the bathroom.

The rooms have room to move around in and the beds were comfortable. The pillows were divine. The television offered movies but we weren't allowed to order any.

The rooms were clean, and a guy named Alex helped us carry our stuff up the stairs. We weren't sure what the tipping procedure was and we hadn't expected that so we didn't take any cash so we should probably send him a card in the mail.

The woman at the desk must not have been having the best day. She was professional but she gave us the, "You uncultured American tourist" look the moment we walked in the door. She was friendlier in the morning so she likely was just having a bad day.

The grounds are beautiful. I would highly suggest taking a walk around the grounds while there is still light outside.

The food was a bit pricey for what we got and wasn't all that great. I had the duck breast which was extremely small and the port cherries were 100% alcohol. The bread wasn't my favorite, either. We didn't order any alcohol because the prices were a bit high for us and the meal was already costing us L34 (about $70). The breakfast was okay and was small, also.

Overall it was a good place and we don't regret the experience. It was just a little pricey for what we got.

We did a castle tour and stayed one night in this hotel.

First I agree the entrance could be better marked.
Since we are still young we "climbed" up to our rooms
through a labyrinth of corridors, which were big and clean
with a nice view to loch oich.

The dining room was small but beautiful and the service
was very good as was the food.

We loved every single second of our stay in this gorgeous hotel. It is the stuff beautiful dreams are made of. Even my 9 year old son was smitten. The romance, the history, the comfort and the warmest, friendliest staff. What more could anyone ask for? A reasonable price? Well, you got that as well :-)

There is only one question I always ask myself, when I visit a hotel:
Will I come here again?

In this case, the question is: How SOON can I come here again?
I think that says it all.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely. This hotel nestles in a stunningly beautiful very large park......but I su...

A quaint old hotel in the highlands. Beautiful grounds, very quiet and stately. We stayed one night in a beautiful room with a comfy king bed. We opted for the 4 course dinner which was very good, a bit pricey but worth it if you want to treat yourself. We did a nice trail walk along the river and the loch where there is an interesting old castle ruins. One disappointment came at checkout. Somehow they did not have a record of our deposit made a month before our trip. Fortunately we had our credit card statement as evidence and they were ok with that so be sure to bring your paperwork with you. All in all, an authentic taste of Scotland.

Loved the experience of staying in the castle. Liked the way the room was decorated in the style of a castle. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the way they rang the gong for dinner. A quiet place with excellent views.

My partner and I stayed here for a couple nights travelling around Scotland, very grand stately home type home accommodation, stayed in one of the deluxe four poster rooms, the suite was fantastic the view of the loch amazing. The grounds were lovely with ruins of the old castle.

Although we did not dine here in the evening the breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice - our decision not to dine here in the evening was predominately due to lack of choice for vegetarian food. The hotel is very traditional and very quiet which was perfect for us, if you were planning on living it up in the town perhaps not the place for you. My only slight disappointment would have been the quality of internet as we both had some work to do sadly, wifi was very patchy and unreliable.

But truly for a romantic break the setting and rooms are superb.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the loch if possible its amazing
