I stayed at this location in April, 2012 as part of a cross country trip. The hotel itself was fine. Very clean, decent room, the bed was fine and the property featured a pool and (I believe) a hot tub. The staff was friendly and efficient upon arrival and the complimentary breakfast was typical of a Fairfield Inn, Hampton, etc.

However, two things stood out to me. First, the neighborhood didn't seem to be the greatest. I didn't have any issues whatsoever, so let me be clear about that. But it seemed a bit older and run down. Then again, large portions of Memphis seem that way.

More importantly, the area is void of decent dining options. The front desk people gave me a sheet listing dinner options. Unfortunately, those options were 10-15 minutes up the road and 2-3 exits down on I-240. For breakfast, there is an IHOP that's adjacent to the hotel.

I stayed on points and the price was right for sure. However, if I was paying for a room upon returning to Memphis, I'd stay a couple of exits up I-240 in the Germantown section of the city. It's much more upscale and there are plenty of dining choices close by.

Stayed here for 2 nights in December. Rooms were fine, but the temperature in the room was variable. Since it is not a digital thermostat, the room felt either too warm or too cold. Breakfast was okay - typical waffle, yogurt, cereal, etc. jimmy dean sausage sandwiches and store bought juice and drinks was interesting. Service was fine and pricing was comparable/cheaper to other hotels in class. Convenient to the highway and everything. About 10-15 min from downtown. could hear the Lenny's sub shop next door taking intercom orders but thankfully that ended after dinner time.

The Fairfield is a budget hotel, so taking that into account, the property at I-240 and Perkins is just fine. Even though located just off the interstate, inside the hotel it’s quiet. - no worries about road noise. The complete renovation is underway and almost finished. By the time you get here it will be. Earlier posts complained most about being old and rundown - that's been corrected!

During my stay, most of the other guests were business types and airline flight people. The shuttle to the airport and back seems to operate all the time.

I was warmly greeted for my 130pm “early” check-in at the front desk, with my reservation completely in order. Upgraded to a small suite, I found a room with plenty of lighting, a microwave, small fridge, coffee-maker and two new-model TVs. The sitting area also included a sofa-bed, desk with chair, coffee-table and an upholstered chair. The two TVs received all the channels including many I never heard, BUT, how annoying is it to watch old analog TV stretched to fit the screen. No one has that anymore. The free internet access worked fast and easy. There was a new super-comfy king bed made up with Marriott’s soft sheets and six pillows. The usual Fairfield continental breakfast was as expected, and also fresh and nicely presented.

There is a full-service Marriott right next door. Other than that, not much nearby but fast food. Otherwise the area around seems off-track, but around the Marriotts it's completely safe.

As a recently retired premier road warrior, I recommend this Fairfield and would return to it when back in the area.

The 4th floor has completed renovations and the rooms are very nice. The internet is free and very fast. The eating options nearby are Taco Bell, Popeye's Chicken and IHOP. The staff is quite friendly and fun.

Room Tip: 4th floor is renovated.

This hotel is independently owned and operated. not the best of the Fairfield Inn by Marriott. It was very small and not super clean like one would expect from a Marriott hotel. It is conviently located near the interstate and fast food places. It does not have a lot of ammenities in the rooms. Just your basic hotel and it was below my expectations for $79.99/night. it needs an upgrade and to be thoroughly cleaned from top to floor.

The shuttle driver and front desk staff were very efficient and friendly. The hotel is a bit rundown and shabby looking but once in the room it seemed safe. The room was small but clean. My main concern is that the area is super rundown with a shuttered fast-food restaurant next door. There was a Hampton inn and Marriott next door, both fenced in. Without a car it doesn't seem like a safe area to grab a bite to eat.

Room Tip: Top floor
