I visited the museum with 7 kids ages 8-15. There were all engaged in the exhibit. The amount of displays, artifacts and interactive stations is incredible!! It was a synopsis of all the major events leading up to the civil rights act and beyond. A must see in Memphis.

Too much infiltration of a biased point of view. Credit was not given to Presidents Lincoln and Kennedy for the work they did to contribute to the Civil Rights Movement.

The museum is built around the historic Lorraine Motel, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot. The museum does a great job of providing a variety of exhibits in multiple mediums to appeal to a museum visitors of all ages, and backgrounds. There is a wealth of information and history here. We stayed much longer than we planned.

We went on a Sunday and maybe the staff couldn't handle the crowd. It started with the lady who sold the tickets. She seemed to have real contempt for the people coming to visit. Maybe they were simulate the treatment of the civil rights workers in the 1960s. We felt that we were not welcome and they were not inspired by Dr. King. That's literally how I made sense of it. The majority of the staff only opened their mouths to say "No," "Don't do that," and "You can't do this." However, the other visitors were helpful in explaining the exhibits. Also, about 2-3 of the staff seemed sincerely interested in the subject matter and they were helpful. The building could not have been better. I would love to visit again on a day with other interested visitors and no staff to detract from the experience.

Lot of good work has been put into the Museum. Highly recommend visiting. Recommend getting ther early. We arrived around 10:00am and had a 30 minute wait. When we were done in the early afternoon the line was out onto the street.
