Only 2 of our party are real Elvis fans but you don't come to Memphis and not go to Graceland do you? We did the Platinum Tour and were surprised to find the place relatively quiet - surprised but happy as it meant that we were not rushed and could take our time moving through the house (ground floor and basement only as the first floor is out of bounds). Although it's set in large grounds, the house is not huge and is rather humble and in keeping with Elvis's roots. It's something of a 1970's time capsule and that, coupled with the outbuildings full of memorabilia, appealed to me. The 2 planes and the car museums were nicely done too, but the gift shop overload was way too much. We all expect to be assailed with stuff to buy at such places but a lot of it was tat I'm afraid and I'm not sure how Elvis would feel if he knew how much dross was being sold in his name? That aside, we enjoyed our time at Graceland but, having done it once, would not do it again.
