Owner description: Beautiful theater holds musical and stage performances.
Reviewed 1 July 2014

Absolutely beautiful theatre. My husband and I saw Wicked and it was phenomenal. We have seen several shows on Broadway, NY and this is MUCH better than some of the theatres there!
I received season tickets for a birthday gift and Phantom is next on the list.
I am so looking forward to seeing all the 2014-2015 shows

Thank Amy B

My husband and I saw the Book of Mormon here, our first time in the theatre. It is a beautiful venue, full of history. There are a few negatives to note, but they do not take away from the fact that attending a show here would be a treat for any local or visitor to Memphis. The staff was clearly unfamiliar with the seating. We were sent to the wrong entrance twice, which I may not have thought much about if I was not in a surgical shoe. The seating was tight, but it is an old theatre and that was not unexpected. There are not enough stalls in the restroom for women, also typical of an old theatre. If you want a drink at intermission, move quickly to get in line. The audience was very into the show, offering a lot of feedback, which always makes the experience more fun. The show was fantastic. We saw it in London last year and it was as good here as it was there, an unexpected surprise.

The Orpheum is a Memphis treasure -- with a great selection of Broadway tours every season in a stunningly restored theatre, we couldn't ask for better! We most recently saw "The Book of Mormon" and enjoyed it immensely! Phantom is next in our ticket line up, not counting a few of the Summer Movie Series offerings -- the Grease singalong and perhaps The Rocky Horror Picture Show!

It's fortunate Memphis preserved this theater. We came from Northern middle Arkansas to see "The book of Mormon". We could see, we could hear and we were in row "T", halfway back, just in front of the mezzanine. Unlike some other reviewers, our seats were comfortable for the performance.

The summer movie series is great. Should have posted this review earlier. So far this year the shows have been great. Atmosphere is awesome as well. The one other bit is you are able to explore the theater somewhat so you can see all the different angles and seats. The shows are general admission.
